Have you ever sat in the away end with a friend and wished you hadn't

I have. Portsmouth at home, when we did them 6-0

Sat in there with a friend who had travelled up from London with me for the game, so I thought I'd do the decent thing and check out the new North stand into the bargain.

Quite amusing to see the Pompey fans going mad at the ref, but a lot of sitting on my hands.

Similar experience

stood on the old Kop, Sunderland at home, 2nd season under Wilson I think, we won 4-0 and one of their fans invaded the pitch and ended up with a police dog for a necklace.

Leeds away in the 80's! 5 Barnsley fans and we scored with 5-10 minutes left.

Pretty stupid of us to celebrate!

Ermmm, very silly actually :)

Or the other spin

Have watched us play QPR a few times with a mate who was a QPR fan and gone in their end at Loftus road.

If you remember the 4-0 drubbing a few seasons ago when we went with a 7-2-1 formation and even played Dangerous Brian up front when all was lost. I was there amongst the QPR fans and had to put up with their sympathetic and patronising condolences.

I think I have sat in the away end 4 times and never seen us score - haven't done it for a while though

To name a couple

Vs Sheff United back in the 80's (FA Cup match). Was only 8 at the time.
Vs Leeds in Premiership

Can you post a warning when you are intending to sit in the away end

and we'll all stay at home, cos it sounds like a dead cert we won't score.

LOL

Not planning to anytime soon - QPR mate now lives in California so I will be in the right end this time - mind you I set there last season and it didn't help much

Have a Watford supporting mate (3-0 defeat when I tried their end a few years ago) so told him happy to have beer before/after game but going in our end for the match

Sat in the South Stand at Bramall Lane late 80's (can't remember what year - we wore the dark blue away strip) controlled myself ok when we scored our first but couldn't help myself when the second went in - I hadn't realised it at the time but there were about a dozen tarn fans sat around me who jumped up as well!

Then there was the ZDS cup at Hillsborough in the early 90's when we won on penalties, all the kicks were taken at the Kop end - I decided that I was going to laugh at every penalty no matter what happened! On the way out all you could hear was "who's bothered about dat ZDS Cup anyway?"

Between 78 and 85 I always sat with the home fans at away games

between me being aged 7 to 14, because if you wanted to sit the only option was generally the "home" seated section. My dad got complimentary tickets though so that was the main reason we sat, although health reasons I guess would have been a factor for him.

I always remember there being other Barnsley fans sat with the home fans, because the odd bloke would jump up when we scored. There was never trouble, but I guess in those days you got trouble if you went to an away game and stood with the home fans - the seats were less raucous.

I don't know why I keep going to QPR

Last season was woeful

A few years ago a copper asked me to tone my language down or he'd have to kick me out. To be fair he chuckled and left me be when I asked what he'd be shouting if his team were playing so poorly, and then started shouting "rude" comments at the players in comedy Harry Enfield 1920s football fan style.

I think everytime I've been to QPR there's potential I could get kicked out for swearing at our players.

Went to hampden to watch Scotland v England (think it was 1984) with some England fans. Absolutley pooed myself all match, especially when this jock kid came up to us and asked if we were English!
Anyone who says it's friendley rivalry needs to experience that hate and atmos. Match ended 1-1, woodcock equalised and we dared not utter a word.

Other way around

Sat in the Wrexham ground with the away supporters but with a local a couple of times.
And of course never seen us win there.
Gloating all the way home. Should have made him walk!

How about in the wrong country?

1981 Played football for a Fire Service XI v Northern Ireland Fire Service. After the match we had a meal at a Fire Station near Windsor Park, and the Irish lads offered to take us to watch Northern Ireland v Israel in a World Cup Qualifier. If they won, they qualified for Spain 82. As the England v Hungary game was not on the TV we agreed.

Half time the score was 1-0 to Northern Ireland, and everyone was happy until this announcement

"The half-time score at Wembley is England 1 Hungary 0"

Cue about 15 of us shouting "Yessss!" - only to realise we were the only ones doing it. Bloke in front turns round to us
"English are ya?"

Left 10 minutes before the end. Never been so scared in my life!

Boothferry Park - beat Hull 5-4, sat in the seats behind the home goal.

Millmoor - beat Rovrum 4-2, stood on side terrace.

Millmoor - lost to Rovrum 1-0 ?, stood on Tivoli for that foggy cup tie.

Northampton - won 1-0 (Glynn Riley), stood in main stand, almost cracked my head on wooden beam as I went through the turnstile.

Hillsboro - lost 1-0, sat in North stand for that league cup tie - froze mi wotsits off !

I've also been to Hillsboro a few times and stood on the kop hoping to see Man U or Liverpool or anybody else win, but never have !

I travelled to Oakwell on the Everton Supporters coach

This was for that full members cup semi final that kept getting postponed. I was living in Liverpool at the time and wasn't expecting any more than the die hards going from Liverpool. On the way out I was right, but on the way back four scallies got on the coach, explaining that they'd missed the coach out, so they got a taxi to Barnsley and then didn't bother going to the match, cos they were enjoying brawling in town. I kept my gob shut all the way to Liverpool, jumped off the coach at the first stop in Old Swan and swore never to do anything as stupid as that again!
