Not Bragging like, but you never know what you can do
if you try..but i have always been hard to beat at darts
it happened on Boxing day1983,and against a proffesional player, who scalps were ,john Low.leightonRees ,and Joocky Wilson..i worked for FISONS,we had a sports club.and it was morning it was my time off.i was on the dart board playing with myself.(NOW NOW WATCH IT)when i walked the local dart player the late Dennis Crofts.he was working but sneaked off for a Quickie,, we played several games, when another keen dart player came in, he put his darts on the table and picked up the chalk to score.i picked his darts up.and they felt ust right for me, i said can i have a throw with ur darts he said yes...so said ok put me down for 180..and i threw 60,60,60..the most perfect 180 i have ever seeb....that was the only 180 i scored ever in a game with some one..many at home in practise...OH,i still lost,i bought them both a Pint....thanks for reading this

    as ever, magic

don't often play darts mi'self, but I've hit the odd 180. Pretty much pure luck tho...as sometimes the dart bounces off another and lands in.

oh dear, I might be getting technical on DARTS. Must dash!

Never scored 180, but the only time I didn't want to hit the bulls eye and I did.

It was closest to the bulls eye to determine who went first on the Bungee jump. I tried to snatch my wrist so I would completely miss. It didn't work. I hit it smack in the flipping middle.

    was poo at darts

could never hit what i went for but strangely used to hit treble 18 quite easily hence keeping me in the game, until the checkout that is.

    Finishing

Managed a 14 dart finish once. Got beat by an 11 though on the same day and still got stuffed.

My opponent, (formerly) a friend of mine, beat me with CONSECUTIVE finishes of 156, 160 and 170. Without doubt the best finishing I've ever seen, including watching on telly. Wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself so don't blame anyone else if they don't!

I was crap in matches, too.

    That's how I finish

Did you throw 14 darts at double 1 or have I misunderstood?

Don't talk to me about double 1

I said I was crap at matches. I once got into a double-1 battle with a guy in a team match and I was so nervous I ended up throwing at the bull just to make sure I hit the board. It lasted ages. The scorers gave up counting the darts after two sides of A4. I'm not a bad player in practice but I can't play matches to save my life.

    nerves

they can ruin you or make you play better. I used to play league snooker and it was completely different in match conditions to in practice.

Years ago I used to play some mug in pub at pool

The more money at stake, the easier it was to beat him.

I was on rock & roll at the time but would play him for 50 notes and win every time.

when no cash at stake he beat me.

Not sure if it was his nerves or me taking it seriously under pressure.

RE: probably a bit of both

I once scored a volley, instantaneously, from 35 yards at Stocksbridge. Not too disimiliar to Justin Fashanu's goal of the season against Liverpool in the early 80's.......Ok... soz, i know it's not darts. I'll leave the room (sound of footsteps getting lighter and a distant door closing)

RE: I once scored a half volley

Did the massed ranks celebrate on the terraces?,.... ahem!..... How did you celebrate? I opted for the Alan Clarke one finger in the air salute as i charged off to the halfway line, with comrades in pursuit. Oh such heady days! Do you know, we grow up FAR too quick? Where did all those years go eh? Me and a few mates relate to incidents as if they were only 2/3 years ago when , in effect, they were over 20 years back:eek:
