Only thing missed between steps 6 and 7:
Manager is persuaded to sign a new contract suddenly containing a release clause and a figure on his head. His reward is being allowed to speak to the club pursuing him.

I have to admit it looks very much like Groundhog Day - without the jokes and Andie MacDowell :-(

It was disappointing to hear the booing yesterday though, yes we’re disappointed but the issue is with the board I wouldn't want Stendel thinking that the fans are turning in him ir the team.

Agree with the above, Stendel must have it in his head that the fans are against him but we aren't. It's the board who aren't doing us any good right now. I still say an experienced defender and midfielder is required, even if we need to break the loan policy for say half a season.

It does seem like Groundhog day.

I quite like the promotion bit of the cycle, so already looking forward to next season.

Hecky was fine up to this time of season, but had lost the plot by mid November.
For me, the bit of history we don't want to see repeating itself is the management style & approach that followed a succession of bad results. Calling out the lack of experience is fine, but rubbishing the players isn't.
    Here's a little memory jogger from 30 Sep 2017:
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41369648
A promising return from McGeehan that day, but he was thrown out on loan a few weeks later around the time of the declaration that most of the players aren't good enough.
No problems with fans losing their heads, but a steady Stendel is what we will be needing to carry us through.

Spot on. I think something must have happened after the Norwich match away. He changed the squad massively for the Cardiff game and lost all momentum and never got it back.

McGeehan was the worst of our central midfielders that season by a distance. Looked less mobile than Paul Digby & couldn’t get a game on loan at Scunthorpe.

The only difference playing him regularly that season would’ve made would be us getting relegated a few games earlier

I think Hecky must have fell out with a few players because during that 17 match run without a win it was pretty abject stuff.

    Reckon so, SD.
Also remember him trying something different at Reading then throwing on 3 subs at half time after a woeful performance. Just seemed to be running out of ideas & desperate.
PS just realised that history was also being repeated this weekend with Hecky losing his head & getting a red card. Maybe we're gonna win our next away match 1-3 :D

The frustrating thing is it doesn't have to be like this. The old board didn't have much option to operate in any other way.

These guys have the means to show a bit of imagination and shake things up.

They seem to have more pride in doing things on a shoe string than they do in their product, which is what we all go to watch.

When you look at that game harvey barnes set 2 up, at one point he was involved in nearly every goal we scored. A player we could never afford to sign but the loaning of him made a big difference also see mcburnie. Shame we have decided against it as it wont make any profit.

That is the impression many people are getting & it is fairly understandable. 2 relegations in 3 years from the Championship would indicate that, if they let it happen, by not rectifying the situation in January.

I'm comfortable with the spreadsheet idea for signing young, raw players, but we need to have some experience along side them. This could be players coming to the end of their careers, possibly interested in moving towards coaching on short term contracts, or loanees from Championship clubs that need game time.

I think that's how we all feel JP. No one wants them to throw silly money at it. Just be more flexible.

This is a very blinkered and naive approach they're taking.
