they were fitter and better organised, we looked ok upto half time, but, second half we simply ran out of steam, the service from both flanks was woeful, Reid was far too slow, The flak Colgan gets is way off line he was'nt at fault for any of the first 3 goals, (I did'nt see the 4th), Andy Johnson is not as good as Togwell, and we need to find a place for McCann.

The next purchase, please Mr Davey a proper Centre half, we should'nt panic, other results in the Championship suggest a less than favourable start for some so called front runners, remember, last year we saw Colchester make a really bad start only to come good, as for Coventry, they outplayed us 2nd half, simple as that.

In case you havent noticed we have a place for McCann.

    He is on the bench.

I dont think we have the players to get the best out of him.

I am hoping Lawrie Sanchez comes in with a 2 Million bid.

    agree...

...also take note of the ref's name I. Dowie, formally of Sarf London.

As for centre half, Scunnie seem to have done alright there.

Colgan should have had the first

The ball came right across the 6 yard area, and a goal keeper should make that his own.

He seemed a lot more commanding than I have seen him, but the keeper should tell his defence what to do.

Can't fault him for the other 3, and he did pull off some good stops.

Agree with the idea that Reid should be dropped and Sousa brought into the centre. Our problem is having no right back at the moment.

I love the way our fans show a complete lack of respect to the quality of sides like Coventry

in relation to us,look at some of names in their team and the money spent on the them,it dwarfs what we have spent in last 6 years alone.

Look at signings like Michael Hughes, still a class act at this level and always has been.Kyle and McKenzie best part of a 1m a piece there,Jay Tabb,Julian Gray good siginings etc etc.

3 or 4 seasons at this level and we will be able to hopefully make additions like that.

This division hasn't got worse just coz we have had a season up,its still as strong if not stronger, make no mistake we will still get hammered this seasson away from home and won't be a million miles away from drop zone, but i'm sure we won't be in bottom 4 or 5 by turn of year

I am sick of hearing that we have no right to compete..

with the likes of these and them, what complete and utter B*ll*cks. We are here on merit and, as late results last season proved, we are capable of giving every team a game.

Laying down and dieing because a side has spent a lot of money is no excuse and never will be.

By all means show respect to the oppostion , but not fear . We are here by right , we should fear no one . Capitulation should NEVER be an option .

togwell won the ball three times in the first minute he was on . I watch him because I think he is going to develop into a really good player

Togwell has got to start! he's 22 and is a class act already he needs games at his age. No disrespect to Johnson thought he did ok in first half some cracking tackles, just think he should be back-up for Toggers.

Togwell is the unluckiest player at the club

after his performances last season he hasnt even been given a chance in pre-season. Seems AJ is SD's man and he is gonna play him.

I have only been a member of this forum for the last few weeks, BUT have been watching the Reds for 30 long years, and my thoughts are that if we have a captain like Reid we will NEVER defend well. He is no leader, he has no defensive skill, he has no passion for the team only himself. We have had many bad players as you all know, but we have never had a worse captain. After seeing the highlights again this morning, 2 of the Coventry goals were down to him.
Don't get me wrong, we were up against a well formed team they deserved the win in the second half, only because we let them play. One defeat will not stop me from watching every game this season, but surely we need a headstrong defender with balls of steel to come in and shake the rest of the up.
Kozluk will come good, I saw him several times last year give him time, Johnson has experience and does everything expected, Nayatanga has been an inspiration for us (except for yesterday) and I have seen Souza just 4 times and think he needs more games under his belt. Anyway lets look forward th the first 3 points coming for us at Colchester. COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: I am sick of hearing that.... Agree with you there, because...

If we'd had that deferential attitude to "big" clubs in 1997 we'd never have been anywhere near promotion to The Premier.

I thought he should have had the 2nd, didn't track the ball across his goal and never moved as the cov player headed it towards goal

I haven't seen the goals on telly so I might change my view when I do.

but hell, Coventry (who were average at best) have spent a lot of money so we can't really expect anything more than a drubbing
