it would seem that players not giving it 100% in training and/or giving it the "big I am" are not getting in the team. The two main players given the cold shoulder this season being johnson, christianson & to a lesser extent Ricketts, you could believe that to be true, because they've come with tonnes of experience and have played for bigger clubs than us.</p> Unfortunatelythats the way of the world and some players need to be whipped others need to be mollycoddled, i can see why Simon wants a squad of triers and the rules are strict, but just once in a while needs must and you have got to swallow your pride. the time is right for Kim to play tomorrow.</p>
out of the team for a slightly different reason there are 3 centre halves (in a different class) in front of him
Despite the unprecedented successes so far this season and I have to hold my hand up and say that we have done much better than I ever expected up to this point, Simon Davey has a major flaw in his management ethos. His man management skills are sadly lacking. He seems unable to accept that other people, including some of his players, are entitled to their own opinions and that sometimes these opinions do not mirror his own. He has to allow people (players in particular) to speak their mind, without it affecting their progress in the team and consequently, the progress of the team. Until he can do this, sadly he will not become the "Manager" that some people (including himself) already think he is. In the long run, that will be to BFC's detriment.
Major flaw that Clough, Fergie, Shankley etc had blighting their management careers In any case you dont know thats the case at all - you are just guessing. There appears to be an excellent team spirit on the pitch - how do you know the reason that the likes of Johnson Christianssen etc are excluded isnt because they arent team players?
RE: Major flaw that Clough, Fergie, Shankley etc had blighting their management careers And of course you would know that the opposite is true wouldn't you. Just like you know how Clough and Fergie and Shankly operated. Yours is an opinion just like mine is. The difference is I don't try and discredit yours and don't say that yours is wrong, I just believe that mine is right. Even if I could, I wouldn't try to stop you airing your opinion although it wouldn't make me change mine and it wouldn't alter the fact that I believe some of your posts are good and some are not so good. IMHO if Davey followed the same credo, he would probably have an even better team spirit that would stretch to the players who weren't being picked for every game.
Puzzled now I wasnt trying to discredit your opinion just putting a counter one which is just as plausible. I have no idea if mine is correct or not. I am fairly certain Davey is still learning the ropes and making mistakes in his man management whether your theory or mine is the correct one I dont think we are likely to find out anytime soon. Didn't mean to upset you
What do you base this on? Because it isn't the impression of Simon Davey that comes across from the players when they come to speak at the supporters trust fans forums. Quite the opposite seems to be case from what Ive heard.
It's Davey's job that's on the line though He has to take responsibility for his selections and he has to lay down clear rules to his players. He has gained his qualifications, he has been given the nod by the board, he has proven himself capable based on our progress this season. We simply don't know how much he listens to player feedback but I wouldn't blame him for laying down the law. Letting players have their say has been a recent criticism of England managers hasn't it. I think Farnham's example managers speak for themselves (and I mean that in both senses).
Everybody knows how Cloughie operated ...it's well documented.</p> "If a lad has a different opinion to mine, we sit down and talk about it - then we agree I'm right!"</p>
