http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22107409 Wonder if it will reach the championship sometime soon.
About bl00dy time football moved with the times. I would hope to see it at all levels of professional football within a few years, but I'll not hold my breath.
I can't believe that Hawk eye got the go ahead when it is the most flawed of all the systems presented. It will not work when the ball is under the keepers body or when there are players between the ball and the camera's so really what is the point? It's perfect in sports where there is always a clear site of line but the umpire/referee can't see it because of the speed but in sports where the referee can't see it because of bodies in the way it is next to useless. It also relies on the game being stopped while a decision is made. The other proposed solution was, in my opinion far superior in that it used sensors to automatically detect the instant the ball crossed the line, whether it was hidden or covered or blindsided or anything. If the ball broke the line then it knew instantly. Within 0.5 seconds the system set off an audible alarm on the referee's watch telling him that the ball had been in the net. No stoppages, no problems with lines of sight. Just a clear almost instant goal alert to the ref. I wonder how much money changed hands for hawkeye to get the deal.
