These two are really starting to wind me up. Richards is supposed to be a target man, he wins bugger all in the air. he spends the majority of the time looking at their centre half rather than looking at the ball and trying to win it. Hayes, considering he is about the same height as Richards should win more balls in the air, or at least attempt to do so (JUMP). He also has no great pace and personally i dont rate him. We have all seen the criticism a certain Mr Conlon received and to be quite honest I feel Richards offers us nothing more whatsoever. By these two muppets not winning headers and keeping possession it is putting pressure on the rest of the lads. we tend to play down the wings all the time, which is our strength but we are becoming too predictable and teams are working us out. we need to able to play through our strikers more and i would like to see Wright and Nardiello given a chance as i feel they would complement each other quite well.

    RANT OVER

If they don't win headers, why do other players hit long balls up to them?

    To start with....

'By these two muppets not winning headers and keeping possession it is putting pressure on the rest of the lads'...

Reight. So if the team pass the ball to them on the grass and not in the air, do you think they'd do ok? So is it really there fault if the rest of the team hit the ball in the air to them? And, how many headers do you think Nardiello would win?

He'd win every header, and score with every touch, because he came from Manchester United.

He meant 20 with his left foot, 20 with his right, and 20 with his head.

Don't forget, he's from Manchester United.

    Jokes aside...

given the chance, i think he'd do alright.

This league needs workers. Now the championship...he'd be alright in that league. And the premier league...he'd finish top scorer.

He's just too lazy. remember him at Blackpool last season? He just stood there scratching his ballax all game long.

I'm quite a fan of Richards and Hayes, on the occassions I've seen them, they haven't done too badly. And both had some time in central midfield against Bradford and did pretty well!

    Aye...

    idle.

I also like Hayes and Richards...but i liked the idea of Peschisolido (sp) more. Would have been a great signing on loan for us.

    Forget that after today.

    My View on our strikers

Hayes has eleven goals in all competitions from open play, if you include the goal he should have been given against Rotherham. Thats more than most of our strikers in the last few seasons have got in an entire season if you take away the penalties that they take (Chopra, Dyer, etc). In my opinion, thats an excellent return. He's capable of scoring tap-ins and excellent goals, his first touch is superb and so is his vision. Sometimes yes, his workrate lets him down and maybe he doesn't win enough headers. But he's done more than enough to warrant his place and I don't understand a lot of the criticism.

Richards: Personally, I think his workrate is quite good. He is reasonably quick but his acceleration to full pace is poor, which sometimes makes him look slow. His first touch can often be good, but can also sometimes be like a ball bouncing off a wall. He doesn't get into many goalscoring positions and can sometimes lack vision or intelligence. I can see why he gets criticised. Good penalty taker, but for me, he's a squad player.

HOWEVER, neither player is helped by the high balls which they receive constantly.

Nardiello: Worse in the air than both of the enough, and lazier than both of the above. His finishing can't be doubted, but his approach work, his timing of his runs etc are not good enough. He can be outstanding at times, but not often enough. I'd say again, that he is a squad player.

Wright: Difficult to judge but so far, so good. Particularly noticable is his ability to leap brilliantly to win the ball in the air, and not just aimlessly flick, but to look for his strike partner with the headers. Quick aswell, and stayed in the central areas of the pitch while he was on, which was useful for us. Hopefully with a few goals, he'll go from strength to strength.

Verdict thus far on first choice partnership: Hayes and Wright.
