If we were to sell Hayes it would have been fairer to BFC if the amount paid to Scnuthorpe was deducted from the amount received before calculating any per centage being paid to Scnuthorpe. They have had a cracking deal considering they did not even train or develop this player.
He was at Scunthorpe 3 years I'm sure there was a certain amount of training and development in that time. I know he started at Norwich, but they didn't want him anymore and Scnuthorpe took a chance on an untried youngster and offered him a contract. £150k may seem like a lot, but if the lad turns into a superstar it could be the bargain of the century. Fact is, Ritchie wanted him and the club went out and bought him. We may have to pay a bit more than we wanted, but he's our player, let's hope he repays the fee with his peformances and them some.
Fair comment but, should we later sell him,I still feel the fee paid to Scnuthorpe should be deducted from any fee we may receive for him, before the sell on fee is calculated.
RE: He was at Scunthorpe 3 years £150K's not a bad price, you can't buy a house in a decent part of Leeds for that!
Now a Neil Shipperley has room for a bathroom, 4 bedrooms (1 en suite) and a double garage. But when it comes to decent strikers we're a "first time buyer" and you know how difficult it is these days, the market as it is.
