And by my reckoning only 41 English league managers had been in post longer. I am a bit indifferent to him going. I am sure that the board are disappointed that their loyalty has not been repaid, but the club is much bigger than 1 man. Football is fickle. Had Bristol,City sacked their manager at the end of November last year, would they have considered LJ? I suspect not. Good luck to him. He has the security of a 3 & 1/2 year contract again. In the football business he will need it. I hope that both he and Bristol City fulfill it. Even on day 1 I think it unlikely.
Usually when a club is looking for a new manager/Head Coach, there tends to be problems with regards to form, league position, or other issues. We're not blighted by any of that, as we're the form team not only in the Division but the whole country, we're in with a chance of the Play Offs and have a Wembley final to look forward to. If our backroom staff can keep this run going, then the suits can take their time without needing to rush into an appointment. Perhaps that appointment may come from within if anyone fancies it. Perhaps someone from outside the club will see the post as an excellent opportunity and be keen & relaxed about working within the current coaching set up.
I think it's a make-or-break opportunity for Johnson. He is certainly the most affable and eloquent speaker that I've heard as far as Bfc managers go, and that charm has landed him the Bristol job. If he pushes Bristol into the top 6, he may well be applying for premier league roles in a year or two. Fail and he might be viewed as a lower league manager.
