LJ is termed the Head Coach, but what exactly does this mean. Does he just train and coach the first team and is he allowed any input as to player targets in the transfer market. If he is just the first team coach then who is the manager, and who is bringing in the players. LJ has confessed to seeing the need for some experience to be added to the squad, but all we are getting is young inexperienced players ....mostly on loan too. I am a bit bemused by the whole affair. Also why would premier league teams think it a good idea to send their prodigy's to a struggling league 1 team. Something just does not seem to make sense in all this.
I think the other coaches at the club responsible for the other age groups report to him. This is so the whole philosophy of the club is followed at every level and not leaving each as a different department. It seems very successful at the minute as none of the teams can rustle up any wins.
I've wondered this myself. We at Tannadice have a new "manager" Mixu Paatelainen but he also has the label "Head Coach" having taken over from Manager McNamara. No idea why this should be. Possibly couldn't be arsed with all the day to day **** of running a club and preferring to put all his energies into the playing side. Unlike the other dick who was more interested in selling our players so as to line his own pockets. Apparently this was part of his deal as manager. So maybe L J is only responsible for the playing side. Quite a responsibility mind you. And everything else, ie the financial side of things, players contracts and players ins and outs all left to those upstairs.
