Im at the cricket tomorrow, i've heard Headingley is a pretty decent run or are we better going back into the city centre to watch the match in the evening? bear in mind il be leathered supping cooking lager all day
There are LOADS of pubs in Headingley within a couple of minutes walk from the ground. I'd recommend the Sky Rack personally, or The Original Oak has a good beer garden if it is sunny. If you really want to go for it attempt the 'Otley Run' (no running involved!) which will take you from Far Headingley right into town http://leeds-list.com/food-and-drink/the-beginners-guide-to-the-otley-run/
If you're into your real ale, my local called Arcadia next to the Arndale centre is brilliant. But Headingley during tests is absolutely rammed, so somewhere like the Oak would deal with that better, especially if the weather is decent because as Jamdrop says it has a massive beer garden.
Arcadia is busy enough in the evening at the best of times let alone when's there's a test match on. The Bridge in Kirkstall in really good and is less than 10/15 minute walk away so might be a bit quieter but there's nothing else around it really.
Very true, minimum of one pint per pub and no longer than half an hour in any place. Or, of course, he could always do the 'Shotley Run' . . .
Headingley cons is good on test days at lunch. That's where we are heading on Saturday. Although with the weather forecast being what it is, might be a pub session most of the day.
Skyrack good for watching football & nearby. Oak will have it on but probably no sound on. Box will have it too, but it's a bit of a student pub. If you walk 15 mins up to Woodies they'll have it on there too. Woodies is best choice for ales / food & may be quieter as further from ground. Still on all main bus routes back into town too. Arcadia doesn't have any TVs
sports bar on headrow will have our game on tomorrow , 2-3 screens and televisions all over top floor .
