Hagler was my favourite boxer when i was growing up, he had some proper tear ups back in the day when you could watch boxing on the tele.

Both legendary boxers, in an era that was golden.

My favourite was Thomas "The Hitman" Hearns....dont ask me why, just what i thought as a kid.

It was a good era, the likes of Alan Minter, Bomber Graham, Larry Holmes and Roberto Duran were other fighters of note.

Roberto Duran was a hard man....took some knocking down, but Hearns did so......Caesars Palace June 15th 1984

True.. but if I remember rightly Duran had lost about 40lbs in weight to make the fight. Duran won his first world title at Lightweight..weight is usually king in boxing and Duran spent most of his career fighting men who had a naturally heavier weight.

Hearns was my favourite, along with Benn in his time. Hearns, Hagler, Leonard and Duran, great fighters. Rivalled in my affection domestically by Benn, Eubank, Collins, Watson era. It was a real shame what happened to McClellan, I've got his career on dvd and he was an exciting prospect. Similar start to his career as Tyson had (although he did have a couple of UDs against him early in his career), just steam rolling everyone. Benn was hard as nails though.

One of the best Middleweight fights I've seen, I was a Hearns fan at the time. But boy did I like Hagler after this war.
