In a bid to attempt to keep the club alive, anyone worth a cheeky bid? Or believe flicker might have a punt?

Andy Webster would be a signing to play alongside Martin Cranie....hopefully, as would be their Lithuanian captain (forgot his name).

Jamie Hamill is highly thought of in Scotland and would be good competition at full back

I'd say every Heart's player has been up for sale all year.

Better to wait and try and get a player for nothing. I'm sure they would want to get players off the wage bill. There again I really don't think their playing staff is anything to shout about. Very average IMO.

What a feckin mess the game is in here in Scotland. Our 3 so called big establishment teams Rangers Hearts and Dundee all in severe financial difficulties. All caught cheating in some way or another and all in huge debt. All a big feckin embarrassment.

How proud I am to say I support a team who plays the game to the letter of the law and pays their debts and does not resort to tax evasion and the shafting of innocent companies and individuals.

How i wish someone would have the balls to shut the 3 of them down.

Jamie MacDonald, Fair to moderate I'd say. A lot has been said about how poor the SPL is, and yet he did let 49 goals past him.

They did have Peter Enkelmann on their staff last year but I'd hope Barnsley would give him a wide berth.

Would you say that, excluding Celtic, is the SPL even comparable to the Championship? Or somewhere between Champ and L1?

I don't follow it at all so I have no idea.

I was Stationed up there with the RAF

and I went to see Inverness a good many times, but they had just been accepted into the league proper from the Highland league. Saw them in SL3 and SL2. But did watch their MoTD equivalent a lot, and yes the SPL is about as you say between our Champ and L1, leaning more to L1. I also saw a lot of Highland league too, that was raw and rash, but still very good entertainment. RAF Kinloss was near Forres and Elgin, so I saw a few good many Forres Mechanics and Elgin City games. It was ok entertainment wise, and it was good hearted honest stuff.

Hard for me to say as I've never watched a L1 game. When I was down for the Hull game and I was asked that question and my answer was Barnsley were no better nor no worse than United. I'd say the top teams in the Championship are certainly streets ahead of our Premier League standard, so yes a mix of top L1 and bottom of Championship.
Must say though I expect our standard to drop this season unfortunately.

    Re: Evening mate

I'm not due to be on my dig until the start of the football season. So, apart from our holiday, I'm going to have my nose in books until then. Like you, mate, I'm missing my football.

Oh I've been keeping busy with pieces of home decorating. Almost finished the stairs.
Out for a couple of pints tomorrow night, Saturday night going to a Pink Floyd tribute band concert in Arbroath and on Tuesday Hampden Park for Bruce Springsteen. It's all happening, mate.

And I think its the Euro draws tomorrow so I'll be able to start planning my Euro trips as Hibs, Motherwell and St Johnstone all involved.

Kinda a bit of both mate. I was down to Chesterfield visiting family so took in the game. I usually try to arrange my trips to coincide with a BFC home game although I have in the past just made the Oakwell pilgrimage for a Tyke game when United haven't a game.

Nice one, some commitment given the time and cost involved in travelling...just out of interest, how did the affinity with Barnsley start?

    Can I just point out

Ian was screaming & cheering Barnsley from the first whistle to the last. At one point, he gave the referee a volley of abuse in his broadest Dundee accent. My friend turned to him and said, "I bet no one has ever said that to a referee at Oakwell before, Ian!":D:D
