Heckingbottom agrees move from Barnsley

<p align="justify">Paul Heckingbottom will become a City player until June 2009.</p> <p align="justify">The left back, who spent the first half of the season on loan from Barnsley, has agreed an 18-month deal.</p> <p align="justify">Winger Alex Rhodes will also sign another short-term contract for the rest of the campaign.</p> <p align="justify">Stuart McCall is keen to start putting roots down after filling his squad in a hurry when he came in last summer.</p> <p align="justify">And McCall, who has stressed he wants hungry players in his team, was delighted by Heckingbottom's &quot;refreshing&quot; approach to their negotiations.</p> <p align="justify">Talking to the Telegraph &amp; Argus McCall said: &quot;In this day and age, I thought he was refreshingly honest in the fact that next season he is going to be earning almost half of what he's on at the moment.</p>&quot;He wanted 18 months and with the budget we've got it would have been difficult for him to stay on the same amount. <p align="justify">&quot;A lot of the money from the contract will be tied in to when he plays but he is happy about that. He is backing himself to play regularly and that's the attitude I want to see.&quot;</p> <p align="justify">Heckingbottom has missed only one league game under McCall but his form has not peaked to the level when he was named City's player of the year in 2004.</p> <p align="justify">McCall said: &quot;There's more to come from Hecky definitely and he will say the same. I think he's been okay so far but we know that he can improve.</p> <p align="justify">&quot;He desperately wants to be here, which is great to hear. He's a solid pro who can play for us in a couple of different positions and is also very good in the dressing room.</p> <p align="justify">&quot;I know he had offers from other clubs to take him from now until the end of the season and ones who are doing well in this division.</p> <p align="justify">&quot;But he has enjoyed himself back here and wants to be part of what we are trying to build.
