In my view it's actually Hecky that needs to learn quickly Tactics were wrong against Fulham and Hecky didn't adapt them during the match to make things better We had wide players that were hardly ever in the game while at the same time Parker was picking the ball up from deep and passing the ball straight down the middle and bypassing our midfield Our midfield was totally overrun - Hecky should have gone to 4 2-3 1 With the 2 midfielders being defensive midfielders
I agree with nudger 100% it was obvious from very early on that we were totally over run in the middle and that we needed to get a grip of Parker by possibly dropping Watkins into the midfield. It might not have won the game but it might have gave us a chance of at least a point. If we had changed things and it was successful then it might have forced fulham to change there system. It's not a criticism as such but more about learning about life in the championship and how we need to be able to adapt in games.
Agree DJB we also need to keep hold of the ball better.Fulham did this at the weekend sometimes passing the ball around and getting nowhere but it certainly made our lads work.I think we may have learnt a lot in defeat on Saturday.
I'm sure if the French guy that got injured early in the season had been available then he would have been used to strengthen up the middle of the field Then another defensive midfielder at the side of him And either Marley for strength and awkwardness as the single striker OR The speed of Armstrong as the single striker On Saturday against Fulham we played with two wingers and one of the forwards that never were part of the game - in affect we started the game with 8 players No wonder it was a bad defeat - and for most of the match one way traffic
So in conclusion hecky needs to learn to stop the French guy from getting injured so that he can play against Fulham?
Both forwards scored. You err know that's what they are many to do right. Of course we currently have no defensively midfielders let alone 2. Grand plan otherwise.
we were getting battered, chasing shadows and couldnt get the ball of them at times. Hecky changed nothing until scowen got sent off
Sorry I forgot. Clearly our defenders have taken the keeping clean sheets isn't important' mantra to heart...
He probably did get it wrong Saturday. He's restricted by the lack of central midfielders (not sure whether that's his fault or the board). Mistakes happen, he's got far more right than wrong up to now
The only thing that I didn't get was why our first sub came on so late. We'd lost a lead twice, conceded three without reply and were being overun. But it was Fulham in full control, all the momentum and a two goal cushion ringing the changes first.
