    Hecky became a bit cautious towards the end - trying to protect his CV from too many bad defeats. Always seems a bit dour to me these days. Not sure how he's going to motivate players with so little joie de vivre.

    I had a lot of time for Hecky while he was with us. However, he seems to have lost the plot since - in one game at the end of the Sheff U relegation last season, losing 0-1. Takes a Striker off for a Defender. Absolutely, relegation was nailed on, but why not have a go

    Nope, defended him towards the end of his tenure. But his record since leaving is awful. If Val moves on then I'm confident we'll make a good appointment (and chances are we won't have heard of the replacement)
