Sorry if already posted. Decent golden handshake, but not a lot in football terms. Could all be ballax of course.
That reads to me like he didn’t get a pay rise by going to Leeds If we received 500k then it’s most likely he was on 500k a year with us because that tends to be how the damages clause works in the LMA managers contract to avoids argument about penalty clauses Must say I’m a bit surprised if this is the case.
Also it forgets that they carried on paying him up to the point of dismissal so not really that great a ‘saving’!
Think that may be from the Sun, different figure in the Mirror, but the gist of story the same, waiting for 1st June to sack him to save on compo.
Various sources on twitter says he was due £1m if sacked before 1 June. But after was only £500K. Not bad either way for 4 months work. Same probably can’t be said for the backroom staff he took with him.
No they probably trusted Him like the majority of us left us in the ***** oh that sounds familiar then
Looks to me a bad decision all round his leaving. Yep he's a got a wee bit more cash in the short term, but that is not going to last for ever. Now he joins the ranks of managers trying to get a job - won't be straightforward with a win ratio of under 20% over 16 months.
I couldn't believe he was given a new contract. I know the owners spoke of him being part of what they liked about the club, but the longer it took for it to get sorted, the more he lost games. I think our owners played a blinder there.
More money than any of us will earn in a year. Good look to him. As long as he only comes back to Oakwell as a fan, or visiting manager I wish him well.
I've got no problems with Hecky as a manager (although I do with the manner of his departure). He lost his way after the Cardiff set back and became too defensive, but early in the season he got the team playing some exciting stuff. Given time I think he might have got things back on track at Oakwell, but we'll never know. In fact after the Leeds debacle we may never know how good a manager he could be because he simply won't be given a chance. Slim margins in footballing fortunes.
