Sports Personality of the Year tonight and this award is given for overcoming adversity. This award, historically, has been given to professional and non-professional sports persons. This year it is being given, posthumously, to a lady who died from cancer but fought for justice for her son who died at Hillsborough. I feel sorry for everybody that died that day and the distress that it caused their families - no parent, in an ideal world, should outlive their children. I am interested to see peoples thoughts on this as it is not overcoming adversity through a sporting achievement so is it right that the award should go to her?
I don't have a problem with it Although the award has usually gone to a sports person, I don't believe handing it to Anne Williams' family creates any sort of issue. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/sports-personality/25357425
