We've been here before and we all know how it ends. Lee Johnson will get sacked. It probably won't be this week, or even this month, but LJ just hasn't won over the Barnsley fans.

His football is dull, the results are disappointing, the signings are mediocre, the reliance on loans is depressing and to some of us, we're still ticked off Danny got the boot so his successor was always going to have to do something extra special to change our minds.

Hard to be positive I'm afraid. I actually like LJ as a person and think he's trying his best, but difficult to defend what's happening at the moment.

The club/Lee Johnson desperately need a win on Tuesday...

Good post Matthew, I think you're right on every point.

    Hope not, but probably.

Either we're very unlucky and every manager we appoint is crap, although the majority appear to prove otherwise at different clubs, or our problems are in a different place to where the finger is always pointed.

And so will the next manager and the one after that and probably the one after that too, all within the next 5 years.

Some thing needs to change and not the bleeding manager

Bury are 4th despite being managed by David Flitcroft and starting Jacob Mellis every week when he's fit. I gave up on trying to understand this league a long time ago.

Flitcroft has proven himself to be a decent manager. As is Keith Hill. As is Micky Mellon. Danny Wilson doesn't need to prove anything, and Mark Robins always seems to find work.

It could be that we need to look elsewhere in the club to see where the problems lie.

    Maybe it's the kit man...

Flicker can get the very best out of people. He's a weird fella, but a great motivator. I doubt Paddy McCourt has ever put a shift in elsewhere like he did for Flicker. I rate Danny Wilson very highly but he couldn't get nearly the same kind of performance from McCourt that Flicker got. I guess he's doing the same with Mellis.

    We're buggered.

If he gets sacked a load will give up because the managers aren't being "given time", as if somehow time is the solution to all of our problems.

If he doesn't get sacked even more will jack it in come season ticket renewal time.

Is he good enough to get us finishing 12th? At this point I doubt it, and no matter how much people will bleat about time, 12th is not an unrealistic or unfair expectation. Even if we don't get relegated this year, I can't see him transforming us. But at the same time I have no idea who I'd appoint instead. Quite honestly I'm just bored with the club.

All those past managers (exc. Danny obv) all currently manage clubs where the pressures and demands are completely different.

He shouldn't get sacked, he needs more time. At times we play decent football, we're just young and naive and lacking leaders. That's quite possibly a lot down to our new philosophy of signing young players to try and make money and not signing old 'has-beens'. If the board have some sense they'll realise that this inconsistency and naivety is as a result of this new approach and give the 'head coach' time to get better results.

McCourt putting a shift in? I must have missed that game.
