Will a standard VGA cable carry sound? I don't think it will but I'm not sure.....can anyone tell me if any of these cables are suitable for the purpose????

    VGA cables don't carry sound.

You will need a separate audio cable.

    What model is your telly?

Dunno, I'm not at home, but it's the 32" one that everyone seemed to be buying about 18 months ago.
