Trying to print something. Aside from the rogue ink cartridges, the printer says it's offline, when clearly it isn't. It will print test pages, but won't print e mails or anything stored on the p.c. It also won't print from my laptop. It's a wireless printer. Other half bought some genuine ink cartridges, for £50. He reckons it's cos they're compatable cartridges, and all will be well if I put the new ones in. I know he knows less than me. I don't want to put them in, and risk drying them up, if the printer says it's still offline. How do I get my printer to go online, and recognise the full ink cartridges? (And yes, I have googled it, all night and watched you tube videos on the subject, galore)
mines WIFI but always hard wire it as WIFI drops out during printing, try hard wiring it with usb lead
Aye, that was my next plan. Think it might be down to lame connection with router. Think I might just go to bed instead. Or pour coke on it.
first printer I ever bought I was up till 2 a. m trying to get it to be recognised by computer, ended up like Basil Fawlty "I'm going to give you a damn good thrashing", I just couldn't let it go,was like a man on a mission, good luck!
I have a wireless printer and its a proper pain the arse. It often does exactly what you have described, particularly after a change of ink cartridge. I know its an old cliché but I usually find that a switch off at the wall, so it has to re-establish connection to the router when switched back on again, usually does the trick
Can't you type it. I think you can pick a typewriter up fairly cheap and works perfectly every time. If you need coloured drawings a geometry set and pack of crayons is 2,99 from Asda
On a serious note, you could walk through the wireless set up wizard if it has one or try resetting the wirless settings from scratch. Sometimes other devices nick the IP number and it loses connection. I once spend ages doing this only to realise printer wifi was faulty and it's almost impossible to troubleshoot. For the price these days vs cartridges might be better buying a new one and setting from scratch.
I have an Epson 312 printer and have had similar problems in the past. I don't print things very often at all but recently I've found it much easier and quicker to email the document to myself and print it directly from my smartphone via WIFI because getting the windows 8 PC to print is as you suggest, a right pain in the arse. If you have a smartphone I recommend trying that for a temporary workaround.
When you set it up did you allow epson to send software updates automatically if you did they have a way of detecting if your not using their cartridges and stop it working
i have the same printer, also had the same problem. The problem occurred after we stopped using our old 3 mifi unit and started using the new 3 mifi unit , it seems that it was the mifi unit that was causing the problem, it is definitely not the inks. I am using compatables and they work perfectly now I have switched back to the old wifi unit.
