Only ever been to Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) - But on both occassions thoroughly enjoyed it, beach is great, bars and restaurants reasonable (both in town and around beach area). If you want major nightlife I believe the area to visit is Playa del Ingles in the south of the island. Hope this helps.

    Done Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Tenerife

Prefer Tenerife - a lot more character and not quite as purpose built as the other two which are basically volcanoes with man-made resorts all over the place.

Los Christianos on Tenerife is really good with a bit more natural style about it. Also, if you like it a bit livelier, it's within walking distance of Playa De Las Americas. There are some decent sights to see all over the island whereas there's bugger all on Lanzarote and Gran Canaria.

Playa Blanca is great if you want a quiet evening in a restaurant or if you like it a bit more lively Puerto del Carmen. I'd recommend hiring a car and travelling round. There's some great places to visit.

    Puerto Rico.....

Went there in the mid 90's. There's two complexes - one on the top of the hill, and one at the bottom (which seemed to be the more popular). Snoopy's was a very popular bar. Personally; i found the place ok to chill out, although a aprty from Wolverhampton were absolute *******! They ended up offending some women that were part of a 100-strong party from Widnes in the end and the Wolves lot upped and left rather sharpish overnight. So..... if you're after a peaceful time i recommend Puerto Rico.

Having spent time at them all I bought a place in PLaya Blanca, Lanzarote. THeres plenty to do good restaraunts, bars and night life without the place being overrun with load mouthed vomitting chavs as in the case in many of the larger places.

If you are looking for a place to stay give me a shout as I rent my place out.
