Help please guys regarding the above. Got a load of 'delivery notification failed' in my inbox last night now it's saying my password's been changed this morning. Just checked to see what's going off and looks like someone else has access to it. Worrying as I have a few online gambling sites. Any help as to what I can do. Tried looking on google but doesn't really get me anywhere.

First, get another e-mail address and change your profile on any accounts you have to that e-mail address. Then I'd contact hotmail, tell them you've been hacked and get them to close down that account.

Thank you for that, is that account gone now. My password's been changed then? I'll make a new account. How do I get in touch with hotmail, via email or phone them? Sorry for sounding silly but pretty basic with stuff like this.

Same thing happened to my wife with a BT Internet email account. We found out that it was hacked when she was using her iPhone to check her email via a shared Wifi spot in an airport lounge. Anyone who is on the same wifi network (with the right software) can then see the email address and password everytime the iPhone connects to email, it sends these details. A shared wifi is a real security risk from that perspective. Using a 3G network to check email is not a problem as internet traffic is encrypted.

Just thought you should know for future reference. I think you may have to kiss goodbye to that particular email account. Good luck in getting it sorted out - I'd be tempted to phone Hotmail support to get them to suspend that account immediately.

Go to login.live.com and click the link for "I can't access my account". It will take you through a menu to sort it out.

I had mine hacked, but fortunately it was linked on my phone to my Outlook Express account through the address book, the first thing I knew was when I received an email from myself offering me Viagra, only about a dozen people from my address book had been emailed before I changed the password(that sorted the problem for me) I then emailed everyone apologising for the crap I had apparently sent them.......some even asked if I had any left!!

Hi guys quick update, just been on the phone to hotmail support and not only has the password been changed, they've also changed the rights to it completely. Couldn't do a thing with it other than shut it down all together. Which ever *******'s done it had made sure they've done a damn good job. Thank for the help this morning and here's to 3 points tonight!

Hotmail best avoided altogether - this happens all the time with them. I guess as the largest webmail provider they get targeted by the hackers, but they also seem pretty vulnerable.
