Not free but only $6 a month and easily the best is easynews. I also use ALLofMP3 (the Russian site) if there's anything I want but can't get on easynews (a complete cd is about $1.20). It's all "legal" as well.

Really free music Probably not what you were after, especially if you want studio or chart cd's but this is a collection of live recordings that I use a lot
http://www.archive.org/browse.php?field=/metadata/bandWithMP3s&collection=etree
And this has a free album that will blow away the cobwebs
http://www.throwingmusic.com/
If they aren't good enough for you then get your hand in your pocket and pay!

RE: if you want "Really Free" music there is only one place! Mad as a cow in a submarine.
Totally brilliant!

RE: if you want "Really Free" music there is only one place! The man when Paula Yates split from him said " well you've blown your last chance to go out with a rock star."
RE: Works better live remember seeing him in his prime in Birmingham
he was "slightly" inebriated and during one song decided to climb the lighting gantry while singing
he then proceeded to "tightrope walk" across the width of the stage about 50 ft off the ground -on just one length of scaffold pole-one slip and it would have been intensive care! mad as a hatter-but brilliant!
