Got up this morning and some w@nkers have put my car window through in night If i go through my insurance does it affect my renewal price next year? Never done it before Cheers
Depending on what’s in the policy for cover, I’d check that then the price of a new one against excess and possible increased premiums( don’t think a claim would fit a windscreen), also do you have protected no claims?
a windscreen won't usually affect your no claims. you'll probably have a reduced excess. obvious route is to contact them and ask though, or have a quick check of your policy. if you're a 17 year old with a Golf GTI, the terms might be different!
I'm confused by protected no claims. I had protected no claims and had an accident (my fault - I ran into the back of the vehicle in front) on 28th December. When my renewal notification arrived at the end of January, the accident is obviously recorded but there's also a note that the no claims discount has been affected. It's become a moot point anyway as the price had increased considerably and so I shopped around and found and saved £80 with an alternative insurer but does protected no claims only provide partial protection? Does anyone in the industry know?
From my experience working for insurers, make sure it goes down as a windscreen claim and not vandalism. Latter will most likely impact your no claims discount.
My car was hit by a police vehicle while I was 5 miles away. not only have I had to declare this for 5 years all the insurers I've used have increased my premium. I have complained about this and been told " well its only £10" and was told by one that " well although you wernt there your the kind of person who may be accident prone" BTW if you get a quote and declare a non fault claim ask if your premium is increased by it. also be careful on "Asking advise" as once you tell them it's happened they note it as an incident on your file whether you claim or not...
Technically I'm sure you can actually claim against the at fault party for the increase in your premiums too but no idea who you'd do that
