Help required from the good burghers of the BBS please!

I have recessed bathroom spotlights - I think the maker's name is JET. The bulbs are MR16's with push-in pins. I can't see a way to extract the spent bulb from the fitting. There is no gap - the bulbs fit flush. So I can't lever the bulb out. I've had the whole fitting out (avoiding the hazardous spring clips!) The fitting is a black, conical shape, but I can see no way of unscrewing it or separating the bulb from it. The vids on YouTube don't look like my fitting. There is no retaining clip or anything like that. And the bulb surface is not perfectly flat, so a suction cup won't work either. Help!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated (I was tempted to say would be illuminating!)

They're not like some of those GU10 bulbs are they? Press in and rotate?

No mate. They're just straight pins - push-in, pull-out (in theory!). Sparky(above) suggests a sucker tool which looks a bit more robust than the old one I've got. But the surface of the bulb is not totally flat. Still, I'll give it a go.

Mine were similar they just pull out ,but can be stiff if not changed for a while, try one of the ones that works after they warm up for a while, heat helps wear gloves obviously.

Thanks, Bazza. It seems the consensus that the suction tool approach is the right one. I will redouble my efforts! :)

So, Lads! Got a newer suction tool. Got it on the bulb face ok, but it just pulls the whole fitting outwards from the hole. The bulb face fits very flush - I'm not even sure it isn't slightly larger than the bezel.

Still wondering if there's some other means by which you're meant to extract the damned thing!

    Here are some piccy's:

    Anyone have any further clues?

It's an all in one sealed unit? Which you often find in bathrooms. I think it's a safety thing with steam/water etc

    Mine are similar

Thanks, nezbfc. Do you have to replace the whole fitting then?

I did on mine, as there was no way of just swapping the bulb.

Ended up being about 25 quid a unit a couple of years back, rather then pence for a bulb.

Just swapping the wire connecting them. I'd search using the serial number tbh, and then at least you end up with exactly the same as the others. Otherwise you may end up with different shades/colours etc.

Hopefully prices have come down now though. But better safe than sorry.

Can't you use the sucker now you can hold the fitting with your hand?

As next said it's a sealed unit.

From the product data sheet "Lamp Holder: Integrated LED"
