is there a certain timeframe that speeding tickets have to be sent out by?
a few people have told me that if you dont recieve a ticket within 14 days then you wont get one, so does anyone know if its true or not? i cant seem to find anything official that says that.
cheers in advance

they have to issue you with a notice of intended prosecution within 14 days in order to enforce it but the 14 days does depend on a few things. They have to have sent off the thing by 14 days, it doesnt have to have arrived, so if you get it after 17 days it's still valid because they'll have sent if off earlier. Anything about 17/18 days tho and it would be harder for them to prove they sent it on time. If your car is actually a company car for example and its registered to somebody else then they get longer to track you down. Same goes for a busness vehicle etc. other than that and its 14 days to SEND the notice, anything above 14 and its not enforcable.
that doesnt mean if you dont get one within 14 days you are off the hook, its a guideline, circumstances such as the current postal strike effects when you recieve it which is why its a guideline not a strict law,so keep waiting for the dreaded letter
well its been 15 days and still no sign of one yet. i wont be thinking i have escaped from it just yet, there will be a few more weeks of worry just to make sure.
and i hadnt forgot about the postal strike either. i thought that might delay it a while as well.

very informative indeed, so thanks for that.
hopefully if i havent got one by the end of the week i will be safe.
i've got to admit though that i was speeding, but maybe there was no film in the camera. how i hope i am right.

on my way back from norfolk, but cant remember if it was in lincolnshire or nottinghamshire part though.
the road should have been 70mph (might have actually been the A1 come to think of it) but because of roadworks it was down to 50mph and i went through the camera doing about 60 after overtaking a bloody lorry.

Or just spray them with hairspray, it apparently sends a white glare back at the camera so your reg can't be recorded. I'm not stupid enough to prove this theory wrong though
On motorway road works they usually get loads and only bother with the ones ignoring the instruction totally ie ones doing 70+.
Hairspray dont work. Best thing is to use flip up plates, I had one on my bike. The plate flipped up and left another one saying 4 Q
