Anyone know how to convert a Windows Media music file (wmv, wma) into a MP3 format please ...Or can recommend any free software that does the job for me? As always any help appreciated.
I use this ......
http://www.computeractive.co.uk/vnunet/downloads/2128754/cheetah-audio-converter
Easy to use and free.
Then, when you've converted any music files, you could use this little prog to edit them.
http://www.computeractive.co.uk/vnunet/downloads/2128750/audacity

The real problem is they are encoded I tried everyones options but they all fail as they are encoded wma format. I wouldn't mind but I have purchased the songs from "3 mobile" but I can't convert them to MP3!!!! I can hear them on my phone and on my PC (Using WMP9)but I just wanted to have them as MP3 so I can use them in some picture and video editing software! DOH! Ah well .....At least we still beat that massive club 3-2 last Saturday ff
RE: The real problem is they are encoded I am not sure what the licensing is like from three. But usually they allow you to burn them to a limited number of cd's. Burn the songs to a cd using media player. Then rip them from the cd into mp3's.
RE: Cheers Driver .....Thats my next challenge. Just click on copy to cd or device on the left hand side of media player. You should then be able to drag the files into the left hand panel. Then just click copy in the top right. I use cdex (http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/) to rip files to mp3.
Success!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers all .....For info I have Windows media version 10 and it wouldnt let me burn a copyrighted song ....Fortunately for me I also have Nero StartSmart and that worked a dream ....All songs now converted. Thanks again
