never used itunes previously. downloaded apps straight to ipod, and copied music over using a third party computer program (CopyTrans Manager)

Just installed iTunes 10 to PC and it has copied the apps from the ipod touch to pc. Wanting to update to IOS 5, but it says it will delete all the media from the ipod. How do i get all the music from the ipod onto my pc, so that i can copy it back after updating the IOS

    Thanks

This could be a load of balls, but I think when it asks if you'd like to erase your ipod, say no, and i'm pretty sure there's an option from one of the tabs at the top that allows you to copy from Ipod to itunes library. So when you update it should still be on your ipod after. Not too sure if that answers your question, of if what i say is true (not used my ipod in a long time)

I recently upgraded the o/s on my iPod and it does wipe the lot but once it had upgraded it reinstalled everything without a problem. It took bloody ages and I wouldn't do it again (unless the upgrade was too good not to have) but like Andy says make sure you back up before you start because I have heard people say that they didn't get every song back from the library that hasn't been purchased from iTunes.

Check this site out for some tips and advice if you get stuck http://www.apple.com/uk/support/ipod/

Thanks. will have a look. You say youh ave done it a few times. Does it work with an ipod touch. I read somewhere that an ipod touch is different to the traditional ipods and that you cannot view it as removable storage (i havent checked)
