do you mean lines on your screen?

if so, ours was the same. don't know if it can be fixed but you can obviously buy a seperate screen & plug that in.

I know that it's not portable that way but if you have a place where you use the laptop most you could switch to the permanent monitor.

using a seperate monitor will also help save your laptop screen for when you do need it when the option of the monitor is not possible.

Get hold of a monitor and plug it into the VGA port. If that works then your screen on the laptop may well be buggered. Thats about £70 maybe more. It could be drivers but i doubt it. if you have a boot disk try booting from that.

Prognosis is pretty ***** though i'd say its going to cost you some dosh.
