i know you probably won't read out this email, but i'm sending it anyway. over the last couple of months presenters on football heaven (giddins and bennett) have firstly cut off paul, a barnsley fan when he was pointing some facts out and getting the top side of an arguement and secondly cut off the chesterfield fan last night who had the nerve to point out that not everyone who supports a team in south yorkshire wants to listen to the fans of the sheffield clubs bickering for a hour over who has the worse fans. i suggest the bbc removes the broadcasting studio from sheffield and moves to doncaster, chesterfield, rotherham or barnsley. they should then get impartial presenters who give fans of every club the same amount of airtime. and finally they should rename the station bbc radio south yorkshire to remove all your bias to the sheffield clubs. of course it won't happen, so you will continue to lose listeners from all 4 so called smaller teams
they cut me off too, when I asked them to look into the closing of radio Oakwell Giddings it was the tw@
Last nights show was pointless Most of the show on about how many tickets each of the Sheff clubs give each other and who throws the most coins. What will they do with the 15 minutes they used to tell everyone how bloody marvelous Beattie is? Tonights show will be all Blades fans wanting Blackwell sacked, so it'll be as per usual.
to be fair, I think the Chesterfield fan hung up rather than being cut off. He was asked if he wanted to comment on Chesterfield things and he declined. The presenter did take the piss a bit much though.
I don't understand why Foster Doesn't give the sports noggins some greif about "Sheffield Club only Heaven" They do argue that they can only talk to the people who phone in - and more fans should phone in from T'tarn, rovrum etc. I mean that T!T from rovrum who goes "wagermacorlit" 20 times a minute keeps getting on so they must be desparate for callers. There was a petition set up on the government website for the Radio staiton name to be changed, and it got quite a few signatures, but the government took it down because it was said to be frivolous and not serious! FFS I pay my licence fee and I'm well annoyed about the lack of value for money I get from match commentries!
RE: Last nights show was pointless Dont listen to it anymore its rubbish, the presenters never tell you anything new and always stick up for the clubs rather than the supporters.
The thing is Benett, and Giddings are the main spokesmen for the Sheffield clubs, neither of them are Sheffield supporters. Giddings comes from Halifax, and Benett comes probably from a cardboard box somewhere in the middle of Doncaster. But as most of the callers come from Sheffield, the two of them will side by each club. So Barnsley fans and Doncaster fans plus Rotherham and Chesterfield fans stop ringing in . If either Benett or Giddings don't agree with your phone in , they set themselves up on a pedestal, and their word is sacred, like wise they will cut you off.
RE: only just realised its the same toby foster off the phoenix nights double dvd i'm watching! nt Yup, the same Toby Foster who takes the piss out of Barnsley, every little chance he gets. How the Dee-Dah listeners of Radio Sheffield must love him. (furious)
RE: only just realised its the same toby foster off the phoenix nights double dvd i'm watching! nt Agree Disco for my money Foster is a *****.
Yep, a pair o' tossers and bigger threat to world peace than international terrorism and global recession combined. </p>
BBC reply to an earlier complaint I made A bit bland but some indication that enough complaints may prompt some action. Get complaining abart the cnuts and things may just change. Dear Mr Harrison Thanks for your e-mail regarding 'Football Heaven' broadcast on the 28 November. Please accept our apologies for the delay in replying. We know our correspondents appreciate a quick response and we're sorry you've had to wait on this occasion. I understand you're unhappy with how Radio Sheffield presenters have handled the Chris Morgan/Iain Hume incident as you feel the coverage has been unbalanced. With such a programme the presenters are looking to raise talking points to generate interest from the audience. This may involve playing devil's advocate to encourage more responses but I'm sorry if you felt the approach of the presenters was inappropriate or biased. We do pro-actively research listener opinions about our presentation teams and programmes as well as monitoring complaints. If we receive only negative reaction and feedback then we would certainly look to address this. Therefore, I'd like to assure you that we've registered your complaint on our audience log. This is the internal report of audience feedback which we compile daily for all programme makers and commissioning executives within the BBC, and also their senior management. It ensures that your points, and all other comments we receive, are circulated and considered across the BBC. The audience logs are seen as important documents that can help shape decisions about future programming and content. Thanks again for taking the time to contact us with your concerns. Regards Gemma McAleer BBC Complaints I wish to make a complaint with regard to how BBC Radio Sheffield sport >presenters, particularly Andy Giddings, have handled the Chris Morgan / Iain Hume incident. > >Giddings has in tonights `episode` allowed Sheffield Utd fans (plus >Kevin McCabe) to come on the show and basically say what they liked - >without any sort of interruption or cross interrogation. > >The presenter (Andy Giddings) also made HIS own opinions clear in >support of Sheffield United on several occasions. > >Anyone trying to make a case in favour of Barnsley FC or Iain Hume was >continually interrupted or (in the case of the "neutral" caller from >Manchester) - cut off completely before he finished making his point. > >This is not just this evening but on almost every other edition of the >show since the incident occurred. > >The presenters, with the possible exception of Paul Walker who has been >a little more impartial, have continually used the show to play down >the seriousness of Iain Hume's injury and to give air time >preferentially to anyone with a view supporting Sheffield Utd / Chris >Morgan. > >I was under the impression that BBC Radio Sheffield or the BBC in >general ought to be impartial in these matters and to be providing >radio coverage to the whole of South Yorkshire but clearly that is not >the case. > >I have found the stations sports coverage to continually favour the >Sheffield clubs at the expense of every other football team in the area >and this latest episode is the just the latest manifestation of the >obvious bias shown by the station. > _____________________
