From Preston's official site: Peter Ridsdale Appointed Chairman Posted on: Tue 06 Dec 2011 Preston North End Football Club is pleased to announce that Peter Ridsdale has agreed to become full-time Chairman of Football. Peter has over 24 years experience of football management having held senior positions in a number of professional football clubs. Peter was Executive Chairman of Leeds United for five years (1997 to 2003) having served as a non-executive director for the previous ten years. During his five years as Chairman of Leeds United they finished in the top five of the Premier League in each season and also reached the semi-final of the UEFA Cup in 2000 and were Champions League semi-finalists in 2001. Following a brief period at Barnsley FC where he led a consortium that rescued the club from administration, Peter joined Cardiff City Football Club. During Peter's five years at Cardiff City he rescued them from almost certain administration, raised the funding and completed the building of the new 'Cardiff City Stadium' and on the field he took Cardiff City to their first FA Cup Final since 1927 (2008) and to their first Championship Play-Off Final (2010). Peter then completed his brief by then ensuring the sale of Cardiff City to their current Malaysian owners. During the last 12 months Peter has worked for the administrator of Plymouth Argyle Football Club helping to conclude a successful sale and thereby ensuring their survival. Peter said of his appointment: "I am delighted and privileged to be joining Preston North End Football Club. Preston North End is a football club that has an incredible football heritage, a large and loyal supporter base and a club that frankly ought to be competing to join the Premier League rather than playing in League One. "I sincerely hope that working with Preston North End's existing staff and with the continued support of its fan base, I can play a part in ensuring that we return to the Championship as a minimum in the not too distant future."
fook me....someone else has fallen for it as well........ he will be challenging H Redknapp soon for title of...... 'dodgiest man in football' (allegedly) preston = skint very soon
Following almost taking barnsley back into administration and being told at one point he wasn't welcome in oakyell to lying to Cardiff fans and almost killing the club becoming less popular down there than Alan Tate. ****ing hell. How he keeps getting jobs at the highest level within clubs is frightening.
I would just like to take this oppertunity to pass on my deepest condolences to Preston fans at this sad time
I bet he's chuffed at trending on Twitter, but he shouldn't read what people think of him....... http://twitter.com/#!/search/"Peter Ridsdale"
I cannot believe there are still people in charge of football clubs in this country who will give this bloke a job!
I bet the fans are well chuffed but as always if this all goes wrong they will be the ones who suffer.
I dont know what the problem is Great CV he was a success at Leeds a saved Barnsley Cardiff and Plymouth from going out of existence - it says so above so it must be true even Alistair Campbell would blush spinning the facts to give such a rosy picture - you have to admire his brass neck if nothing else - and there is nothing else to admire My sincere and deepest condolences to fans, players and general staff at Preston (excluding the numpty's responsible for this suicidal appointment)
Re: I dont know what the problem is Wasn't aware of this until just now a Preston fan approached my desk at work with the bad news. He wanted my views. I didn't want to upset him so close to Christmas
Wonder why pepole dont take up references from previous employers I am sure Leeds us and Cardiff would all give him glowing ones to back up his statements on his website
Re: Wonder why pepole dont take up references from previous employers I've just sent this message to my PNE supporting brother -in- law " Just like to offer my most sincere condolences to yourself, Caz & David, I'm afraid with Mr Ridsdale as chairman of your beloved club the only thing that PNE need to be concerned with is surviving, he's a bloodsucking leech & almost ruined Leeds, Barnsley, Cardiff & then Plymouth. A few less clubs for you to worry about you might think but I am a football fan & wouldn't wish going out of business on any club, not even the 2 Sheffield clubs & you know how I feel about them!"
