He once invited him round to look at his spider in a box collection. And then reneged.

A bit rich from the bloke who said he'd score 20 goals last season

And got nowhere flipping near it.

But still ended up top scorer...

despite missing at least a third of the season through injury.

Like many flair players Nards will always divide opinion. I watch football in part to see moments of brilliance from players like Nardy Howard Hayes not toilers like Richards.

We can all admire a solid defensive performance but at the end of the day, goals win games and players with genuine talent are and always will be in demand and somewhat of an enigma; lazy to some, amazing to others...

Sorry, but he told the club that the terms they offered on the Friday were acceptable and that he would be in to sign.

What are the club then supposed to do? Say "Oh, you're happy with those? Here, have an extra £1000."

The club didn't know what QPR were going to do. Danny shouldn't have said he was going to sign the contract if he was then going to turn his back on it.

    Not really talking about that..

there's abviously summat gone off skullduggery on both parts. One thing is for sure, we'll never know the FACTS.

I'm talking in general about how players like nards always have and always will split opinion.

RE: Not really talking about that..

You're right - both sides have a point. My view is that there isn't anything else the club could have done, but I can understand why Danny's gone, to an extent.

In terms of his ability, when he was good, he's very much worth having. Can be brilliant. However, when he's bad, he's so so frustrating and a real waste. We won't really know how much of a loss he is until we see firstly how Odejayi and Mostto (Work permit permitting) do, and secondly, who we replace him with as the 4th striker.

Losing him on a free is a blow, but he needs to prove to QPR, and to me and a lot of Barnsley fans, that he can play for a season, not just 6 weeks when:

    (a) He wants a move. (b) He wants a contract. (c) "The chips are down". (d) All of the previous.

    Agreed...

Generally, most players of that ilk will do SOMETHING before April. Thats the frustration with him, because we all know he's capable of so much more. It can't ALL be down to injuries and and inconsistent runs in the team - he had runs in the team and still did nothing/very little.

I agree. I'd rather watch Nardiello than a "toiler" like Richards, but Richards has gone too.

    The trouble is

that when you cant afford world beaters you sometimes are better off with toilers than fancy dans that only turn in a performance once a blue moon. That is in part why often, under three managers, other players got the nod ahead of Nardiello even when he was available for selection.

Definitely agree with the point - though I couldn't really understand playing Richards over Nardiello (if fit) under any circumstances. The amount of sitters Richards missed, be it foot or head, was at times staggering.

The club were told of the QPR bid before he signed, had the chance to match it , but didnt. Obviously didnt want him enough to go any extra,
Cant say I blame them for that, they have an amount they are willing to go to, but if he gets a offer of more, cant blame him for taking it.

    As Sam Goldwyn once said

A verbal agreement isn't worth the paper it's written on.

Would you have done the same?

And have QPR actually paid him more than BFC offered or did he try to bluff a better deal from BFC and it fell down on him?

One things for sure is that at the QPR press conference he did not look that happy!

No idea if they're paying him more than we offered or if it was a bluff. The details of his salary are as confidential as mine.

He may not have looked happy at the press conference but he sounded even less happy in the article on the BBC site. If I was as unhappy with my employer as he sounds, then yes, I probably would have done the same.

Yes they are paying him quite a bit more.

Wouldn`t you take more money, or would you say "No its ok I have told BFC I will sign so I cant accept your money"
