Dean Hoyle on Jordan Rhodes. Compare & contrast with Rowing's attitude towards Luke Steel and his contract. Wish Dean Hoyle was a Barnsley fan.
Comparisons ought only be made when the conditions are similar. In 2010 Dean Hoyle sold his business for a reported £350m. With back up like that, one can afford to be ambitious.
He'll be gone when Rhodes wants to go. It was same with Sharp, stayed until he wanted to leave Doncaster.
Very hard once a player says thats it EN. Noone wants an unsettled club. Once a player wants to leave he will. Look at sharp, they turned down more than he went for.
Missed the point - Hudds have their most valuable asset tied in - we are deliberately allowing the contract of ours to be run down.
Donny turned down more earlier to keep him for longer. They knew that his value would drop by turning the offer down but they felt that keeping him for a little longer was worth it. It is common sense that a player under contract is worth more than one who's contract is expiring and you know that. Quite why you're trying to claim that it is not true is something I cannot work out.
Exactly.........Extremely Northern The difference between us and Hudders is that they can give or afford to put a player on a long contract. We can't. Hence our players are moved on for peanuts while our neighbours benefit from transfer dealings. For example - Howson to Norwich £2.5 million............Slew (who only played a few matches) to Blackburn for £1 million....the blunts even got over £2 million for Tonge........etc etc etc So looking at these players; is Butters only worth £1.5 million ???????? !!!!!!!.........is Shackle only worth £1 million !!!! Not to mention Vaz Te, Hammill, McIndoe and Howard I would say if Howson is worth 2.5mil then Butters is worth at least 5mil. I dont mind Barnsley selling players but recently we have just been giving them away It is really frustrating and disheartening for the Barnsley fans........and I dont think the directors understand the detrimental effect it has on us fans.
Re: Exactly.........Extremely Northern False economy - 'saving' a year on a contract is costing us in fees. The 'giving away' of players is due to the fact their contracts are nearly up when we sell them.
Re: Exactly.........Extremely Northern Can't we afford to put the better players on 3 year contracts rather than 2 or are we still operating like the years directly after administration? That was 10 years ago and a division below. The club needs to change its contract policies.
