Am on hols at min and dont get chance to log in very much. Not seen game highlights either. There seems to be doom and gloom after one game though which I find a tad surprising after all the optimism pre-season. My brother went and he said Dawson was out of his depth. Was he? Also what were the main positives? Cheers
They was no positives tbh, only the fact Wigan was excellent, the tactics was all wrong, playing Meliss out wide, is useless he's more effective behind the strikers. Just one of them days were nothing went our way. Am not worried tho, a still think we're in for a good season, flicker will sort it for Blackpool am sure.
I wouldn't say there was particularly any doom and gloom. To be honest I'm surprised at how well people have taken it on here, no-one likes to lose but I think we all know that if Wigan keep their team together past the transfer window then there isn't many teams going to get much off them. Most of the disappointment seems to have been around the promises of improving the 'Matchday Experience'...Lindley's is still as bad as ever, probably worse, and Oakwell just seems to have gathered a bit more dust over the Summer and doesn't seem any different. Can't expect the place to change over night but literally nothing is different, and we were told it would be.
Yes but he wasn't the only one. He's a good player but I can't understand this NEED to accommodate him at any cost. It seems like he has to play every game available as if he is the pivotal part of the team. Everyone else has to fit in around him. None of us are football managers so what do we know but it is a puzzling aspect of Flicker's management ethos that he seems to favour Dawson like this. I'm not a Perkins fan (never have been) but the two of them definitely cannot play at the same time and I would rather have Perkins and Etuhu in the middle with Mellis floating wherever he likes PROVIDED he does his share of the work when the ball comes to him. In other words he picks out a good pass or, even better, scores a dozen goals or so. Where Digby fits in is another matter - surely it's a case of IF he ever gets fit, not WHEN. Like everyone else who saw him a couple of weeks ago he looks the part but we will not know for sure what we have until he has 20-plus games under his belt. And by that I mean 20 consecutive ones, not 20 over the next three seasons
