I want tell you of,Whats he on abaht nah you will be saying
WELL, every day you go to bed and hopefully sleep
but in your lives, there are, were times, you will say,i could sleep on a clothes line
the older ones, will remember, you younger ones
    that time will come,Beliieve me
there are several times i recall
    Here is the is one
KOREA 1952, Oh and im asking for a BUllsh**t
    its true
    i was a trucker driver,i had a good job
i was in the royla Engineers
    just behind the Sharp end
we had good facilities,in our camp
we had a PUB, a Cinema,Oh yes,and the lads came down from the treches every night, and we had top class films changed every 2 nights
also we had top class entertainers came once a month

Now in our guard room,we had to Beds, makeshift 4 legs and the thing you put your sleeping bag on was wire mesh

Now this day i had finished late 7 pm ish
i was in my tent, getting ready to go for a pint, when
my Corporal came in and said
go shot gun with jimmy yorky
where was Jimmy taking his truck
well he was going up front to the dreaded HOOK with timber for bunkers
but we were to follow a truck
with lads that new the place
,we set of ,behind all was fine at the begining#
    but up front,no lights
    they were ok in front
    but Jimmy ditched us
we were then pulled out by the afternoon shift
the got us on the road, and off they went
we were now on our own
so i waalked in front of the truck
    the Suddenly
    a flare went up
    it was day light
    the time was midnight
you dont move when the flare is up
but but i spotted a spot where we going to put that timber
    and we did
then set of back to our unit
    things were better going back
because at Panmunjohn there was a Search light
that was a no fire Zone
we got back to our unit about 3 30
we did not want to disturb the lads in bed
so i jumped on the Wire mesh Bed
and had a good KIP next morning i was full of indents
    frome the wire mesh
    But Boy oh Boy
    i did give a Monkeys

    another good kip yarn
i lived in Riber ave athersley
    worked for Hansons wakefield

i left for NORFOLK at about 5 am
i was going down the DONNY BY PASS and i could not keep awake
i struggled to the Bawtrey end
    then pulled up
and fell asleep,Half an hour later ,woke up fresh as a daisy

    ....

    What? (chinny)

That may have been a shred readable if you would have just used some good grammar, and touched up your spelling a little.

RE: Poet, try deleting that post

No need for name-calling now is there? I meant no disrespect, I just had no idea what the man was talking about - thus i felt inclined to tell him so. What's so bad about that?

So no, I won't 'try' deleting my post, it still stands - whether you deem it disrespectful or not.

*One thing I did read from the post is that oldtimer lived on Riber Avenue in Athersley, that's where my father grew up.

Oldtimer, i'm not trying to cause any friction with you nor anyone on here, i like yourself am a true reds fan - always have been and always will be. Please don't feel i'm berating you or being negative - i was merely stating the obvious, i had no way of knowing you were part blind. For that i apologise.

To the people calling me a knob, get a life. It's quite simply not called for, i wasn't being cretinous in any way, shape or form - i was simply saying what i thought about the chaps post - reading through it and deciphering the words, it's a good post.

    Bob.........

keep them coming and give as good as you get (Y) (Y) (Y) I for one find your life stories enjoyable to read. Grammar and that doesn't bother me and never as done. It's all about the content being worth reading and your pieces do that. You have lived a long life and have plenty to say (Y) (Y) (Y)

    Sorry to hear that.

All of my grandparents died before I was 4. Never had the chance to get to know them.
