He was....you won't get too many on here admitting it though. One of the best forwards at playing along the line and without him, Dyer would probably have not scored half as many goals.
He could certainly pass a ball trouble was the other players around him couldn't always read it but sheron use to get the brunt of it cos it looked like a bad pass
Not being funny mate, but if he passed the ball and it was not to his teammate, then it was a poor pass. I agree that he had a good football brain, but if you are not on the same wave length as your team mates, then it will always be a poor pass. A good player can adapt to his surroundings, not just keep passing to nobody!!
Yeah I know what your saying mate perhaps I explained it wrong and to be honest I've just spent the last 5 mins ( short attention span) trying to think if a better way to put it but I can't, it's been a long day lol! I'll say one thing tho mark he was certainly a player that split opinions.
You're not alone, although madmark makes a valid point about him not adapting to his teammates' abilities. Still, he was on a million pounds an hour and only won one corner in 880 games.
Why do so many people say that? From what I can gather more people liked Sheron than disliked. I thought he was a good laiker too, from what I can remember.
Reminds me of when Redders first joined us. He was in a poor team and his class and brain was too much for others who didn't know what he would do next, so passes wouldn't always come off.
Re: Why do so many people say that? I distinctly remember going into a game at Blades, when Sheron had been on a bit of a scoring spree. All the talk was if we could hold onto him. He scored that game, and folks were chanting his name. He was a decent player, but the popular view got twisted when folks realised his salary, if that indeed was correct. Then all of a sudden he was lazy. I liked Sheron, and never really thought he was that lazy in comparison to other players... But maybe his salary wasn't justified.
Hi I'm rothred and I couldn't stand mike sheron Not ashamed to admit it. In the one purple patch he had not long before we got relegated, he showed what he could do. In the 900 other games, he just couldn't be bothered. My biggest beef with him at the time, was that he never chased a loose ball, wouldn't move unless the ball was to feet and simply wouldnt work to close defenders down and put them under pressure. Poor old Bruce had to do all his grafting for him, there was no wonder he was always offside, too knackered to get back.
I was in the "pro" Sheron camp Even on a bad day, not anyway near as bad as some would have it. Overpaid and overpriced probably and some were/are blinkered to his qualities, while retaining a microscopic focus on his weaknesses. Wasn't the sort to work "tirelessly" when not in posession but will never be short of peers in that respect. Had some fantastic skills and good vision.
Re: Hi I'm rothred and I couldn't stand mike sheron Me neither. I thought he had the ability but he was so fecking lazy it was unbelievable and aside from his little purple patch he didn't really do a lot else to justify his ridiculous wages. Lazy and overpaid always spring to mind when I remember him but his 'alleged' refusal to help when we were on the brink of oblivion mean that IMO he's a complete c0ck end.
I just didn't like him It's not often I take exception to Barnsley players, but I couldn't do with Sheron. He epitomised everything that was wrong with that team that were relegated. Overpaid and underarsed.
