Wow... hard to watch. Yiadom looked as bad as McDonald. Potts and McCarthy need time to get up to speed. Thank god for Davies. God I miss Robbo. £3m? Absolutely crackers.
Defence will eventually get sorted - but it takes time. Problem with 'time' - is that while defensive problems are being sorted - we are losing games - and when we are losing games then other problems start to appear such as lack of CONFIDENCE. If that happens - then all is lost. Consequently - the sooner the defence starts to work as a unit the better. Personally - I think Jackson isn't up to it - and Pinnock isn't quite ready to be thrown in. So we have just 2 centre backs at the moment - and one of those is injured.
Heres what it says on the Bbc.. Bristol City started the season with a 3-1 home win over Barnsley, after taking a 3-0 lead in the opening 30 minutes. Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom told BBC Radio Sheffield: "The first goal was a turning point. We know how hard we have got to work to put it right. We know where we are. The mindset has got to change because we saw how tough this league was last season, even when we were flying." Its all very well using the turning point as an excuse, we shouldn't have dropped our heads and threw the towel in after their first goal.
That defending was criminal. All of them had some part in the Bristol goals. Davies kept the scoreline down without doubt. Good footwork by Hedges for his goal.
Dat defending. Non existent. Good work for our goal by Moncur and a couple of excellent saves from Davies don't make up for it unfortunately. Hell of a lot of work to do.
Hedges goal was very good. He had quite a bit of work to do to score and he did. That's my positive for the game.
Just watched the "highlights" and for all the praise Davies is getting and has received in the past, he still has that glaring fault that he has always had, his inability to hold onto shots on the floor, his tendency to push them straight back out, or slightly to one side must be rectified if he wants to progress.
Yes, I've noticed that. Years ago goalkeepers would more often than not catch a shot with both hands or smother it into their midriff. Then we started seeing foreign goalkeepers flapping and punching almost every time the ball came near them and English ones followed suit. It's as if the first instinct is to flatten the hands to parry the ball with no thought of catching it. Lots of goals get given away because of that.
That should put Huddersfield off anyway, or they're thinking of playing him on the wing. We are desperate for another centre half.
