Think there will be plenty of players this summer who will be happy to simply get contracts at a club. Plenty will be released by clubs who simply need to get em off the books.......
To be honest so long as Steele satys they don't have to be much cop. If he gets injured we can just bring someone in on loan. Although I'm not usually a fan of the loan system it is ideal for that. I'd rather us do that then waste some of the budget on a really good second choice keeper.
Would like to give him a decent test in Pre season first before committing but by that time some of the decent keepers available might have signed up for other clubs.
Provided we can keep Steele I'm not too concerned. Stick the young lad on the bench and worry about a short term replacement if Luke gets injured.
Agreed My main requirements in the summer would be strengthening the spine of the team. Good centre half, creative midfielder and a striker to compliment or compete with Davies. Spending a lot of money on a reserve keeper doesn't seem a priority provided Steele stays with us for another season which I reckon he will.
He's got to trust the youngsters coming through, but he will also need at least one quality striker and one quality central defender. Easier to find the latter than the former, but worth a look at who's out of contract - either promising premiership youngster; unwanted Championship striker from team with a large squad; proven lower league striker who could make the step up. None of this will be easy and it all depends on what funds are available eg from Butterfield etc.
Wouldnt be surprised if he needs to find two keepers we generally sell our PoTS and I'd imagine if sense prevails Steele should walk away with it, literally.
Why? Is he going to quit his football manager job? I mean, hands up if you think your job is easier than Hill's. Don't all put your hands up at once. I wish I had decisions to make such as whether I was going to play 4-4-f'ing-2. I've had the day from hell today so I can't get too sympathetic.
