Im a big Keith Hill fan, but after the last few matches my faith is starting to wobble. A few are still saying he's the right man for the job, out of interest, why do you think that? I certainly think he should be given more time, but the bad results are beginning to pile up. I know that this is quite a negative post, it's very difficult not to be negative after the recent run of results.
I'm still fully behind Hill because under the present ownership nobody would do a better job than Hill and I still believe that once we get our players back our results will improve. Keep the faith.
Half of the problem is this takeover talk. Since it was announced the club has started treading water and cutting back on any form of spending. If it does happen then we need the resource to make the ground up we have lost. If it doesn't happen we have serously harmed the clubs status and could be the end of championship football at oakwell.
Because the 'problems' people identify go far beyond the manager, and it's 'kin pointless changing managers every time you have a bad run of results. It's really, really, really boring and tiring seeing supporters (of every club, not just Barnsley) compete with each other to see whose 'patience' wears thinnest quickest, and then see others gradually jump on their bandwagon until there's no choice but to sack the gaffer, at which point the first lot can say "told you so" and start looking for fault in the new boss. Time to bring in minimum 2 year contracts for managers I reckon.
Hill might turn out to be the right man, in my opinion he won't, but now is the time for him to change tack and attitude. This season is rapidly turning in to a season of a survival battle, and to remind him of the fact that this club has the proud record of playing at this level of English football far more than any other club in the country, so no Mr. Hill this club is not "punching Above it's weight." In order to try and preserve the status quo he has to ditch his fancy tip tapping style of err "football" and start re building from the back, with big ugly but effective defenders. Forget about signing striker(s) get the defence sorted for this season survive and then take it from there.
