After turning Steele, Butterfield and O'Brien into 3 of the best players in the division, after turning Foster back round into the great defender he was a few years ago and after turning a load of lower league players into players that don't look out of place at all in the Championship, even they can't turn Lovre into a footballer! Some lost causes are beyond help!
The football and system suits some players better thats all and Foster has always been steady away. Steele seems more positive but a lot of it comes down to confidence.
I know you weren't trying to be controversial in any way and I'm not having a go But I get a bit annoyed by posts like this. Foster and Steele have been quality players since we signed them, consistently putting in very good performances. They make the odd mistake, but who doesn't. But because the team wasn't performing too well then people feel the need to criticise individual players when in actual fact they were performing to a very good standard. As far as Butterfield is concerned it's, it's a source of amazement to me that people couldn't see what a talented individual he always was. Many people got it, but those that didn't made me shake my head in amazement. Keith Hill is doing a very good job as a manager, but he's not a miracle worker who has turned sub-standard players in to super stars. He was fortunate enough to inherit some very good players and what he's done is mould them in to a team. What he hasn't done is turn bad players in to good ones, they were good players already and showed it the majority of the time.
Re: I know you weren't trying to be controversial in any way and I'm not having a go Far better put and nail on head.
Re: I know you weren't trying to be controversial in any way and I'm not having a go Makes mental note to self not to invite Jay and MrsHallsToffeeRolls to comedy club for fear of pointing out inaccuracies in comic's routines. I'll try again... After watching Steele, Butterfield and Foster, er, play as well as they always have and after being fortunate enough to buy some lower league players that don't look out of place at all in the Championship, they can't turn Lovre into a footballer! Some lost causes are beyond help! Nah, doesn't quite work.
Re: I know you weren't trying to be controversial in any way and I'm not having a go Did it previously enter your head to take us to a comedy club and if so which one would it have been? Oh am all disappointed now, me and my big typing finger. Sh it.
Not sure I agree with that completely Steele dropped some absolute clangers last season, and looked far from being a keeper that would get the crowd chanting 'England's Number 1'. Nobody remembers Muller these days, but he was all the rage last season! Foster had his poorest season in a reds shirt last year. Jay Mac looked five yards too slow, never mind one yard too slow. Jim O'B - just looked rubbish! I too don't believe Keef is a miracle worker, but there's got to be something in him that has turned the fortunes of those four players around? I also don't believe that Jacob Butterfield would be attracting the attention he is now if it wasn't for Keith Hill. Let's not forget, compared to last season our points/win tally isn't much difference, so the players would have been confident then too.
I think Keith hill is a one hell of a manager,I marvel at what he,s done for our club in such a short space of time,I personally think that he could get Barnsley up this season if we are lucky with injuries.
Re: Not sure I agree with that completely Somebody called in to radio sheffield tonight and made the point that up until this season Steele had cost us points but he saved us points as well it's just easier to remember mistakes made by a goalie. For me Steele was a quality keeper last season and the season before that.
