Think there maybe some truth in that

We were in financial trouble at that time

    I agree.

However, Hirst is trying to make it sound as though that's why he moved there ie to save Barnsley. Truth of the matter is that from his own perspective, he went there solely to play for one of our bitter local rivals for more money. Now in a way I can accept that - who can deny someone the chance to possibly better themselves?

What is unforgiveable is how once he moved, he has always projected an image of being Wednesday through and through with little or no mention of his Barnsley connections. Compare that to Morgan who is always proud of his Barnsley roots - and always denies he his a 'Dee Dah' when he gets taunted at Oakwell.

his 'chocolate ankle' was well known in his barnsley days.

I knew someone who played in the Barnsley schools team with him and he said back then thathe missed a fair few games and that no-one would pay much for him due to his'chocolate ankle'. I always remember the Alan (David Hirst leaves over my dead body) Clarke speach.
