That was a strange one, wasn’t it? I thought the reds started quite well and we had a few half chances and made the final pass wrongly. We seemed to get in a few times in the first half on via the left. But if you don’t put away your chances whilst on top you will pay later and the Reds did. A shot which was very much at Steele was pushed out in to a area that the Bolton strike force would have liked and they put it away into the back of the net. There second was just a good strike from Spearing. I thought the formation didn’t work in the first half and I also thought some of the players didn’t fit in to it either. I thought the reds came out quick in the second half and got a lucky goal I think it was. The ground lifted then and I thought we were sure to get the second which Barnsley did minutes later via COG after the Bolton keeper spilled it. When that went in I was sure Barnsley would get the third and go on to win this game, what I didn’t legislate for though a terrible individual mistake and that’s what happened when Steele spilled the ball from a free kick. When that hit the back of the net you could feel the switch in momentum and that’s how it finished. Barnsley had a few shots which test Bogdan but he dealt with them and that’s how it finished. I really think in the next few games Flitcroft should change it. Maybe to a 4231 and I think that would really help this squad at the moment. I would look at the position of Goalkeeper but I don’t think Alnwich will be fit for a few weeks. Steele Craine Wiseman Foster Kennedy Tunnicliffe Perkins O’brien Mellis Dagnall Harewood Would be the way I would go on Tuesday at Turf moor Players. Three up, Three Down My up’s Wiseman, thought the 6Ft plus Defender played quite well and was a vocal leader on the pitch. He kept them in a good high line to start with. Felt he dealt with their three strikers well too in individual battles. Perkins, Not Perkins at his best but perkins was still a good player today Cywka, thought he played both Left Mid and Left wing back quite well. Played LWB a lot better than he did in a u21 game a few weeks ago My Down’s. Steele, Two mistakes and totally killed the Reds second half momentum. Etuhu, wasn’t impressed at all. Not sure why put if he plays near the side of the pitch he struggles. COG, wasn’t impressed with him at all. Don’t think he held up the ball very good.
I saw the stewards struggling to clean up all the jizz in the Ponty when their third went in. Is Wiseman over 6 foot? Maybe in heels...
Why do you hate Steele? He went to Spain. 2 mistakes? Freekick for 3rd goal yes but what was his other? No mention of O'Brien there Phil. He was pony.
HAHA Hate? No hate fella. I thought he should have done better with the first JT. It was straight at him. I thought he should have put the chance away. He showed the keeper were he was going and Bogdans a good keeper and saved it well.
Steele did make a hash of the free kick but where the hell were our players to mop up? They (Bolton) were first to nearly every second ball and it cost us. Defensively I thought we were abject at times today and unless we sort it out we're going to get dragged back in. And I'm not just blaming the back line because our midfield were poor in the first half too.
How could he have done better with his point blank save? The ball could have gone any where. It just so happened it fell straight back to N'Gog's feet.
Sorry HT that's a load of rubbish. The first he did well to parry. The defence were asleep and let him have another shot. I won't comment on the third as I couldn't see it properly.
There was a bigger calamity at the other end which gave us a goal. Steele might have misjudged the ball coming through a load of bodies with the sun in his face, it happens. Hemsworth doesn't like Steele or any player who was already with the Reds before he started supporting us.
stopped reading after that line. We started terrible. I asjed young un after 5 minutes if we had crossed the half way line yet. we couldn't keep the ball. Hoofed it up to the cardboard tank who kept getting nudged all over and the ball kept coming back picked up second half but we shouldn't be going in 2-0 down
At 2-2 we had the momentum to go on and win it but Steele cost us and they went 3-2 up Even then O'Brien ballsed up a 1 on 1. After that we huffed and puffed but created little. Had no threat against their 3 6ft 4 plus centre halfs.
you can keep finding excuses and they will just be that. It's rubbish, He's not very good. England's number one, C team of course.
Re: "he's not very good" Steele makes an error, and laughing boy jumps on it. I never saw this thread coming......
I think all 3 would have failed but then my claim holds as much validity as yours does. Crystal ball time.
Re: "he's not very good" Wrong, it was errors. He should have pushed the first one over. Not just push it back.
