One hundred and eighty Revenue and Customs officials are involved in raids at major grounds in the U.K. and France regarding tax and national insurance "irregularities". Early indications are that searches are being carried out and it is alleged that documents belonging to West Ham United and Newcastle United have already been seized. This could be massive and present major problems going forward for any of the Clubs involved.
As well as documents computers and mobiles are being seized and several arrests have been made. The raids appear to have centred in or around the South and the North East of the UK.
Good point JP. Makes you wonder how they knew where to look re- South and North East and if there is any connection to the "bung" investigations the Telegraph reported on that saw the big fella and others lose their jobs.?
No way does a manager get involved in the tax affairs of football clubs. This will be nothing to do with Sam Allerdyce.
Depends on whether the manager or players were receiving tax-free payments as part of transfer deals.
That was my first thought. The second was to wonder if it's similar to the employee benefits trusts that Rangers used and led to them being relegated 3 divisions and in liquidation. The case is still ongoing. https://www.ft.com/content/dae5b3e8-08cf-11e7-ac5a-903b21361b43
Seems like it's Marseille linked with the French authorities helping. Newcastle signed Cabella & Thauvin from there & West Ham took Payet from there
Or Sam Allardyce. I can see the scenario now. Wendy miss out on the playoffs, but Newcastle are docked points and finish mid-table. Huddersfield go up auto with Brighton & Wendy sneak into the playoffs despite finishing 7th. Spawny gets. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
