Any further updates on this ridiculous situation the club are embroiled in and will Scowen be given another go at Right Back this evening?
Lots of chat on Twitter this morning - most folk saying his agent deserves a good slap and is misleading the lad. Certainly not doing the club any good - there's a distinct lack of early season cheer as it is !
To be honest, most of us are just fed up with the whole situation. If it helps sway the deal and we can move on, I'll take a day off work and drive him to Bournemouth.
I have it on very good authority that Holgate has turned his move to the premier league down for 'footballing reasons'. Only 2 premier league clubs enquired about him and just one made a bid. The first 2 bids were rejected and the 3rd accepted. He's refusing to sign a new contract with us but will remain at the club and let his contract run down. His agent has claimed he may move abroad when his contract expires so the club do not receive compensation due to him being under 24. It's up to Johnson whether he chooses to play him during the remainder of his contract.
He shouldn't be played as he isn't committed to the club only his own selfish ends. LJ should play the youngested that are contracted and committed.
"Footballing reasons"? It all smacks of pounds shillings and pence. Let him sit in the window of "cash converters"
I know where this information has come from, but I am very sceptical about the source being genuine...
Why o why does this appear only to happen to us? Becoming disillusioned with football due to crap of this nature. It's about time something to prevent this kind of scenario is inserted into players contracts. They have far too much power as things stand.
I'm normally of the opinion that young footballers can't really be criticised for taking the money as I'd do it in my job. But here it looks like his agent is actually being wilfully malicious towards the club. If this is the case then we should do it right back. Point out that it is in the interests of both Mason and BFC for him to either commit to the club or leave for the agreed fee. If the agent wants to play silly buggers by engineering a move abroad to screw us out of compo we should threaten to make him train with the under 16s and promise that he won't see a second of reserve football let alone first team action. Then let's see him try and shop him around next year when one of his client's most important developmental years is completely missing.
