Not a single home grown player in the team or on the bench on Saturday. Shocking indictment of the Academy or recent first-team management?
I think it's got a lot to do with different things. Managers are that under pressure that they are reluctant to give the younger players a chance so don't.
But no reluctance about bringing Stones in (I accept he was exceptional). Just seems a shame that the club appears unable to develop talent in the way it used to do. I'm scratching my head to think of a more fallow period down the years.
Stones got a bit of luck. In pre season he was the only player that was talent that could play there at the start, Wiseman was injured Got is chance against a league two club in a position when Wiseman played left back. Played well, got a goal. The fans loved it. Played against Middlesbrough, got dropped for Wolves and Hassell came in and had a bad game. So he was in and set. Thirdly, Right backs not a big role, Goalkeeper, Central defence, Central Midfield and Striker are the big positions and managers aren't keen to take a risk there.
