Just found out that it was its 14th one but I'd never heard of it before and only did this time today once it had just finished. Anyone seen any of it/followed it before? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-36787368
Homelessness is something (along with many things as you'll have noticed) that I will never get my head around. Just how can somebody become homeless in the 21st century? People talk of a housing shortage but we all know that in reality there isn't, there is a shortage of desirable property. There are lots of houses out there sat empty but we have people living on the streets. I understand the short term homeless, people who have lost their homes through one reason or another but how somebody becomes long term homeless I will never ever understand. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like for a man to be homeless but looking at the link you gave and seeing he first picture you realise that women are homeless too (of course I know that anyway but seem to forget them when I think of homelessness) it just be absolutely terrifying to be a woman having to sleep outside with no protection. The homeless world cup sounds like a fantastic idea. Makes them a part of the community again, lets them know theyre not forgotten and reminds everybody else that homeless doesn't necessarily mean drug addict.
