Homelessness is something (along with many things as you'll have noticed) that I will never get my head around. Just how can somebody become homeless in the 21st century? People talk of a housing shortage but we all know that in reality there isn't, there is a shortage of desirable property. There are lots of houses out there sat empty but we have people living on the streets.

I understand the short term homeless, people who have lost their homes through one reason or another but how somebody becomes long term homeless I will never ever understand. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like for a man to be homeless but looking at the link you gave and seeing he first picture you realise that women are homeless too (of course I know that anyway but seem to forget them when I think of homelessness) it just be absolutely terrifying to be a woman having to sleep outside with no protection.

The homeless world cup sounds like a fantastic idea. Makes them a part of the community again, lets them know theyre not forgotten and reminds everybody else that homeless doesn't necessarily mean drug addict.
