So, we were roundly punished for the chanting of the very few at our game with Bristol Rovers, which was rightly condemned. Now to see what, if anything, is done in terms of sanction and fine against Manchester United FC and its fans. Will it be commensurate with ours? Will they actually take any action at all? A chance to show that this is a level playing field? Or another opportunity to show how corrupt the ethics of the game have become? We wait with interest.
They were chanting, "Chelsea Rent Boy" at Frank Lampard. It's not the first time, they've chanted it at both him and at Chelsea games for years with, it seems, very little, if any, punishment from the FA (what a surprise). That is despite it being raised repeatedly by prominent campaigners against homophobia and ordinary, decent fans alike. And the chant has been classed as a homophobic hate crime by the CPS for at least the last year. It was a feature of the league game in October between Chelsea and Man Utd, Graham Potter rightly highlighted it and it was again widely reported but I'm struggling to find anything on punishment by the FA. Given the previous history and the relative income from the FA (Man Utd get about 120 times what we get) you'd think nothing less than a c. £3.6m fine to be anything like consistent with the punishment we received. I'll just set my flying pigs loose.
Correct. And I agree with what you have written. Get Joey Barton's solicitor on to it. He'll sort it out.
Haven't got a clue, but as they're in the Prem would they be under a different authorities jurisdiction? Hence no punishment required?
