I ask as the January Transfer window is very rapidly coming upon us, surely a new manager should be in place now. The new guy needs to assess what is required in order to get the best from the transfer period he can. If its Mr Davey then he will already have some idea, but is unable to even start enquiries for the January sale time.I am absolutely certain other club managers are already in talks ready for the window.... are we yet agai to miss the boat and be left with the dregs as we usually are.

There must be some reason we allow Hull to take the first pick.

I cannot see it myself. Only think Blackwell ends his legal dispute with Leeds at the end of the year, hence January. I had an awful dream last night that it might be Brian Little.

Why can't Davey make enquiries ?? he has already said the Roberts rumor is rubbish, that nothing is definite with Knight, so I recon he must be already doing something, "just in case like"... Win or draw over Christmas and I recon the jobs his...........

Well the whole situation will have been a farce then.

Interviews then decide Davey is the cheapest option.

Cryne said on the radio it would be new year.

As for worrying about no signings, from what Cryne says there will be some serious investment this transfer window. With that being the case, they need to find the right person to spend it.

Dragon Tyke...........I said the same a few weeks ago when PC said - manager in January.

    Why January ???
Why not a couple of weeks after Ritchie ???
Why delay ??? What is the reason for the delay ???
There is something happening behind the scenes and I think a manager has already been appointed but cannot take the post until January
    This must be the case
Because there has been plenty of games between Ritchie leaving and the 1st January when we could have picked enough points up to move away from relegation, Leicester being one of the games, Leeds and QPR being the others.
And another reason is this - like I and others have said - the new manager has to be aware of the players he needs in the transfer window in January

So putting 2 and 2 together I'll stick my neck out and say Brian Little
Seeing that he was at the WBA game

Brian Little................don't know much about him

He was sat at the back of the media box when we played WBA
He could have been doing radio work for the Birmingham area - who knows (dunno)
But he is the only guy mentioned on here as a potential manager who was in the West Stand at the WBA game

    Well I certainly can't ..

and what's more, I can't even think of a good excuse as to why the club should be taking so long.
Even if they announce the new manager on 1st January, it will have been 5 or 6 weeks since Ritchie was relieved of his position. If he is so difficult to replace, why did we bother? We are probably approaching the most critical period in BFC's recent history and to all intents and purposes, nothing appears to be happening. If there is a short list of 5 as is being suggested, why has it taken so long to whittle it down? Having reached that point, why should it take another two weeks to decide which of the five is the right man? West Ham took only a couple of days to replace their manager and no one will convince me that replacing Andy Ritchie is more difficult than that.
I know all about the "It's important we get the right man this time" thing but how diffficult can it be to select 1 from 5?
I am sure that who ever the five are, the only real "unknown quantity" amongst them would be Simon Davey. Assuming of course that he is one of the five. His record over the past five games, is probably equal to what any of the other four would settle for after their first five games. I'm sure that if we all knew who the five were, we would know instantly the ones we didn't want. We would know in a very short time which one we would prefer and we would know which of the five wouldn't be our first choice but would be acceptable as someone elses choice.
We only have (to the best of my knowledge) three board members and one "Owner", how difficult can it be for the four of them to sit round a table and sort it out. It could be done in the space of a couple of hours tomorrow, announced before the match on Saturday and everyone could settle down to a good Christmas and look forward to what the New Year will bring.
My own feeling is that the announcement, when it comes, will be that Simon Davey will be asked to continue until the end of the season and a further decision will then be made in the summer, depending on which division we shall be playing in next season. IMHO, another cop out and making the past few weeks a waste of time, that could have been said weeks ago.

    Why?

Paul D put his stats up earlier - apart from 1 season at WBA his record is excellent

    I think

the club have been able to have some breathing space as results with Simon davey in charge have been good. It sounds as if the club know which places they need to strengthen and what players they would like to get in January. I'm sure that Whoever the new manager is going to be things will improve and we will stay in this division.

You seem to forget how well he did at Tranmere up to his last season.

Dave Bassett was probably a journeyman in your eyes, yet look what he did. Tranmere were constantly a good side under Little before his final season.

Without looking at his stats I haven't a clue how he did at the other clubs though.
