Yeah cos Barnsley never sign anyone that has had any trouble with the law at all , oh no, we never have players that do anything wrong do we. I mean we would never ever sign players that have been inside for assault or been on videos having sex with ladies while their mates video it, would we ???
Is a resounding no from me. I'm all for second chances and in the cases of some footballers several chances but I have to draw the line at a convicted rapist.
We haven't been a family club for a few years now. We've no shame when signing players. We signed guys from filmed orgies and Jacob Mellis after his issue. Been linked to a Wolves player this summer who's allegedly sexually assaulted someone. Should hardly shock anyone if we sign a rapist.
First of all iam not saying that ched evans is innocent or free from any blame, but before you go shouting from the roof tops your hatered ask your self this, could it not be you who on a drunken night out following a one night stand could have been the one stood in the dock. According to the reports that i read on the net, this case was not as clear cut as the sentence and media would have you believe. Yes he was found guilty yes he admitted sexual intercourse took place , he never denied that. The girl herself didnt bring the charge the police did After i read the report of the said night and what took place, i realized a couple of things the police brought the charge as he was in the public eye and they needed to be seen to doing something about it and secondly the girl herself admitted that the statement evans made was littered with certain discriptions of sexual acts that she would use in terms vocabulary. I would advise anyone to just do a little research and then see what they then think. Might i add i have 2 daughters of my own. But i honestly think that something wasnt right regards this conviction.
Undecided how I feel on this one... I don't know him, or details of the case... he was very young when it happened.... If he has been granted early release that would indicate good behaviours and remorse for his crime... That doesn't get him off the hook... he cannot undo what he did... It's all about what he does following release... If he signed there would be lots of negativity for a few weeks and months... But if he did the right things on and off the field... The negative vibes would soon disappear... Do we want to be the club to support his reform...? It's daunting and ugly prospect... No doubting his talent and ability, but to support reform of a convicted criminal especially in sport is a difficult task... The mere suggestion has created a very negative atmosphere amongst fans... But it can happen... Lee Hughes is prime example... Horrific tragic life changing crime for all involved... He cannot undo what was done... No club wanted to be associated with him following release... But notts county gave him a chance... A few years on, after positive work on and off the field... many clubs would have taken him... I have no doubt someone will take him... He will score goals... I just hope he shows remorse and does the positive work off the field... But who will give him that chance... If he guaranteed 30 goals a season, and did positive work off the field would you take him? It's a tough call... Jury is out for me... But if we don't give him a chance someone will
Im not taking the moral high ground here but all those chelping ought to read up on the case, i honestly reckon they would think twice and ask what if. Could so easily be any of us. Drink was the root of the problem, and no doubt many on here can relate to drunken one night stands. its so easy to pick fault but yet in hindsight how many would say no if it was offered, or for that matter who when been told no as then continued to charm and turned that no into a yes with a little bit of extra gentle chat. bet theres lots on here. Its so easy to throw abuse and yes i know he was charged and convicted but this case holds too many grey areas to simply say he and he alone was responsible.and is a danger to woman.. i wont stick my head on the line as im not certain but i cant recall evans been in trouble for anything before, seem to think evans was of previous good character .thoughts people xx
Whether or not he was successful with appeal a controvercial signing... Certainly not black and white... Seems to be lots of question marks If website is factually accurate and makes you wonder how it even got to court... And why co-accused McDonald was found not guilty? The wildest claim is that she remembers nothing but was not drugged, and alleged noises heard by night porter... If untrue how has site not been shut down and his girlfriend who runs site taken to court... All very odd Either way, I don't know enough to pass judgement on the case... But if he did sign, I might be apprehensive and uneasy about prospect, but I certainly wouldn't do anything drastic like return my season ticket... Club would need to handle media with care due to contravercy that would surround him... Let's see what happens...
